Well I agree things are not as good as everyone wants there to be! But again there is something wrong with every country. I really still believe China gets a special degree of bashing over its things...just like how recently everything was so closely scrutinized by world in the Olympics even show that world just feel good finding faults in China...

No I think I was not clear enough in putting this previously.

Persians in their pure radicalized form follow the Shia't sect of Islam, they have an age old rivalry with the Salafi interpretation of Islam which is dominant in the Arab lands and is associated with the Al-Qaeda and Taleban for instance.

Another aspect is that Arabs and Persians share an uneasy past...they still don't like each other (most of the time)...

Current sort of regime in Iran is just what West will ever want against a radical Salafi Arab uprising...

About Kuwait, I think that was because of very old claim of Iraq on the land of Kuwait not because of Arab-Iranian problem...that rivalry had actually led to Iran-Iraq war.

I am at the moment pretty close to Iran, till next few months that is. I am in Pakistan.

Situation on ground is that thanks to Iran's own power play with Israel using the proxy of Hizbullah they have mustered up enough sympathy from all of the Muslim world. So today when American politicians talk about attacking Iran or something, amazingly even Salafi Jihadi groups say they will go on to help Iran with whatever they can (and that is strange given the odd history of Salafis and Shia'ts).

I am personally of the opinion (planning to write in detail on it shortly) that some elements in West are on purpose trying to make Iran a power-player in the region so that they can counter any possible future Arabic dissident group. We all know that Arabs hate their Kings for being too much pro-west, West knows that too...so if tomorrow a force takes over the Arab lands from these Kings, that will be a pretty much bigger problem for West.

And as America always say, take war to others' land instead of letting it come to you, at that moment they are hoping that age old arch rivalry between Arabs and Persians will kick in and they will spend considerable time and energy just fighting each other out.

Btw I have been trying to decipher Western problem with Iran, and I have come down to the point of Iranian Revolution when some American nationals were taken hostage.

When I was a little kid my parents used to tell me, "if you are not going to eat your dinner (vegetables were tough to eat) jin-bhao (Evil Jin, in Urdu) will come and get you"...and often because of that I will reluctantly swallow few pieces of the vegetables - OBL is pretty much the same jin-bhao... When we all will grow up, we will realize that there was no such thing as jin-bhao...

My only point of concern will be if the "war on terror" is really good enough as eating that vegetable dinner!
