Wonder if this links to the concept that Malcolm Gladwell writes about in in 'Outliers', where setting age-wise cut-offs based around particular dates end up favouring sportspersons who were born closer to that date. Would you know which date/month of the year is set as the cut-off date when defining the age groups for cricket, or when the age-group related teams are selected at the state-level? For example, for an under-14 team, would it be that only players born on or after November 30, 1995 would be considered eligible?

[Arrived at your site through Will Luke's blog, The Corridor.]

Re: gRumblr

nice - i like how this looks.

Re: box-populi

interesting. maybe I'll try it sometime, though considering i do a lot of feed-reading and sharing from office, i don't know how happy tech support will be with me installing third-party scripts. i'll try it out for my home comp though

Re: gRumblr

hey did you get the quote from the RSS feed, or did you post it manually?

Re: box-populi

you can try importing the feed as links with description instead of as text, in which case the title does show up. In that case, though, clicking on the tile takes you to the original link, like in google reader, not the permalink for your post, which can get confusing.
As for pictures, I guess it depends on the template, in terms of how far it shifts the stuff in blockquotes. I'm still picking up on this stuff :)

Re: box-populi

Like I said in my comments on my other blog, I add a tag to an item when I'm sharing it, If I want to add it here. Google Reader will provide you a separate RSS feed for your tags as well, so you can then pick up that feed. That's how I filter.

Re: box-populi

yep, it usually takes about an hour. I'm not importing all my shared items here, just stuff I'd like to see people comment on.

Re: Mohanlal, Mallu Movies and me - A slight change in mood - Company was the last...

Well, obviously, your dad has good taste.

Re: Mohanlal, Mallu Movies and me - A slight change in mood - Company was the last...

<righteous indignation=""> Shush, you Philistine. The whole point of the character is that he's supposed to talk in a south Indian accent anyway. Why must you north Indian types get stuck on the accent and not appreciate the acting talent?? </righteous>

Good to know you're reading/watching the blog too.
As for the Bullet guy, let's leave him be.

Re: Mohanlal, Mallu Movies and me - Naadodikaattu, which, if my rudimentary Malayalam...

Yeah that trilogy was fun, though it gave up on social commentary and went totally slapstick by the time Akkare Akkare Akkare came out.

I think a lot of movies around that time were willing to have some social commentary within the overall plot structure. I guess by the late 90's movie budgets had increased just enough for people to give up on trying to be artistic and get formulaic to guarantee some return on investment. Thus, unfortunately, came about the rise of Suresh Gopi as an action hero.

This isn't a Mallu Memsaabstory. There are a ton of other movie blogs out there besides Memsaab's - for example, DieDangerDieDieKill. I currenlty have a list of about 12-13 movies I want to blog about, so I'll keep going until I finish with that list and then maybe stop. You're welcome to post too, considering that we probably watched a fair number of Mallu movies together.

Re: Mohanlal, Mallu Movies and me - Yodha would not be counted as one of Mohanlal’s...

heh.. touched off a nerve huh? I also remember seeing trailers of this on Zee TV (back when it was ok to publicly admit to watching Zee TV) - apparently there were some plans to dub it in Hindi as 'Dharm Yodha'. Thankfully that didn't happen, at least not as far as I know.
Got any requests? Let me know and I will post on it. Or if you're vela enough you can even co-author.
