I agree with you David. Then again John's view of creativity is heavily influenced by what he saw at RISD. As well as in his current work as a VC-like object at a firm trying to encourage more designer led entrepreneurship. Regardless it's provocative.

This is not a matter of manufacturing, nor frankly even policy. This is a matter of companies past their prime, doing anti-social things like merging to generate billions of dollar of "value" by not paying tax. It would be one thing if this was then reinvested, but instead it stockpiles either in the companies accounts or in investors accounts. This stockpiling further concentrates wealth and does little to benefit anyone but an investor class growing smaller and smaller on account of these concentrating forces.

I would prefer that Pfizer figure out how to grow and innovate itself out of it's current predicament, rather than undertake financial engineering. It's harder and more likely to fail, but that's capitalism.

Business doesn't have a problem with public policy, executives who are remunerated on the basis of stock options running slow growth businesses have a problem with public policy.

It is ludicrous, though I'm not a firm believer in the power of bureaucracies to appropriately distribute cash. So the $600 million to NYC Public Schools isn't the answer. I honestly am not sure how to deal with the radical imbalance of capital to labor.

I'm glad you said that. That was my Brooklyn BS talking. Manhattan has its issues, but intimacy can certainly be found. That said, it may not be found in some of those institutions like MoMA where it used to be.

Jordan was different. Jordan was arguably physically inferior to some of his competition, but he made up for it with his vicious competitiveness. Lebron is simply the most athletically freakish output of a country and culture that is producing seriously ridiculous humans. In any event, that athleticism is paired with an absurd court intelligence and just the right amount of competitiveness to make his teammates love him, rather than fear him.

Time will tell if he beats Jordan, but it's certainly possible.

It's a powerful vision and I expect that my naysaying will only fuel you to prove my idiot ass wrong. I'm not sure that digital can ever be properly privatized (which is why I continue to strip down my digital contributions to more controlled communications), but that is the problem that you're setting out to solve and I wish you the very best in that journey.
