Good post and I thought that Tumblr would :tumble" as well with the new Twitter design. I must admit that I never really got into Tumblr but I am a Twitter power user and I really love the new interface and I think it will serve them well against all competitors including Tumblr, Googe and Facebook

I am a huge proponent of networking. I work as a corporate recruiter so I am networking all day on the phone and in person and then come home and network online at night. If a blogger is not able to put themselves ouyt there and look to connect with others it will be an uphill battle to succeed.

It was only a matter of time until..I got my first payout from Sponsored Tweets and I am like 5 bucks short of my second. I hope they find a way to survive and thrive as I enjoy their service. They have made it through a couple of changes but this will prove to be the biggest obstacle for them by far.

Keith, I have heard this about Blog Engage from a couple of people who are not happy with the changes. I think Blogger Den fits the bill as a site where you can submit. get links a little exposure and be on your way. Maybe, I will put a pligg site up and see what happens, it is simple to create.

Great tips. I treat my blogs and related sites as a business so this list is really helpful. I am doing some of things you mention like developing a brand and developing a business plan and marketing. I really need to work on developing an email list and the jury is still out on that whole paying taxes thing :-)

I have been focusing on anchor text links over the last couple of months and I am on page one for a couple strong keyword phrases because of it.
