It's flabergasting that we are being subjected to a "Bush Dynasty" similar to the Kim Dynasty in North Korea. We're better than that. Regardless of Jeb's attempts to distance himself from his father and especially his (ugh!) brother, this is an oil family that took the nation into Iraq under the guise of "weapons of mass destruction" that did not exist. This nation will not enjoy peace until GWB is prosecuted for war crimes and this war-profiteering oil family is put on the back shelf for good.

Re: Seattle voted most-liked U.S. city in nationwide poll

The traffic is a killer, but once you get away from the traffic, the area is marvelous. Sadly, giant tanker trains course along the waterfront, and there's currently a battle going on to stop plans for trains loaded with coal for export to China, etc., also traveling 24/7 through downtown Seattle. The mayor is fighting it, but if the corporations succeed in pushing it through, it woule decrease the attractiveness of the City, not only for area residents but also eventually for visitors and others who hear about this scheme. Then Portland, OR or some other city would be on the spitze.

Re: Gay Marriage: A Bittersweet Victory? - TIME

This is just the latest symptom of the decline of America. History teaches us that as a nation declines, homosexuality and other licentiousness increases. For some, homosexuality is a fad, the politically correct and safe way to say, "I'm different!"

For those who claim it's a civil rights issue, they're just disappointed they missed previous, real civil rights struggles, so they're making this one theirs.

To me they are still just queers (as they frequently call themselves). I'll just ignore them as our previously great nation collapses into the dustbin of history. There IS a difference between marriage between a man and a woman and same-sex weirdness (homo, bi, and trans).

Civil unions allow governments to provide equality without insulting people who have a sound vision of marriage. I've totally lost respect for the State of New York for the stupidity of its leaders. And I have no respect for any church that enables this screwball lifestyle.

Re: Valley-wide survey examines YMCA support - Snoqualmie Valley Record

Every financial advisor & analyst says we Americans must start living within our means. Everyone complains about high property taxes even in a declining market where the County appraisals exceed the market value of the home, yet we are taxed on the higher value. We have limited opportunity to control our property taxes, and this proposed community center is one of them. WE SHOULD, WE MUST REJECT THE COMMUNITY CENTER SCHEME. It will not bring the community together, rather, it will split it even more. What is being proposed is actually a COUNTRY CLUB FOR THE RIDGE, where income levels are 2 or 3 times what they are in the rest of the community. Yet they want EVERYONE in the City to pay for their Country Club! Incredible! Because of the topography, kids and families from the lower valley would be able to reach the Center only by car! After-school drop-in for teens? Are you kidding. Try riding a bike up that hill, even in the best of weather. In snow and ice, totally dangerous and really impossible. Use the Sr. Citizen bus? Nice thought but unpredictable, infrequent buses make the drop-in concept unrealistic. But when proponents were asked about the limited parking planed for the Center, the response was, "We expect most people will walk!" Obviously, they are speaking exclusively of Ridge residents. No one from the lower Valley will walk there. This is another screwball idea from Mayor Matt Larson, who is trying to build a legacy. He's got an "edifice complex," meaning that he wants to build his own memorial. But he is supposed to REPRESENT the people, not dictate to them regarding a community center. . . or a hospital . . . The only proposal crazier than this one is the idea of building a new hospital at $60 - 70 million when we will soon have a leading edge, full-service 175 bed Swedish Hospital at exit 18, JUST 10 MINUTES from Exit 25 (the Ridge exit). Would someone please talk sense to Mayor Matt Larson, who has a very inflated concept of his own importance and, because of that, makes very unwise decisions.
