If you’re using HubSpot, see if you can access this new release. It’s still rough around the edges, but is really promising for accelerating large writing projects. Similarly, if you’re using SEMRush for SEO work, they have new AI research assistance tools that are in beta.

Re: The Power of User-Generated Content in Social Media Marketing

This is something every non-profit should be doing, getting donors and volunteers to share content back to the org. These are two great typeface designs, especially Fira Sans. It, in particular, is one of the most carefully crafted typeface designs I've seen in a decade or more. The font file packages it comes in are particularly impressive too, and ideal for on-screen usage.

Some say Montserrat is simply a Gotham clone, but I see it more as a serendipitous thing that it's similar to Gotham. They were both inspired by old signage designs from similar eras, so it makes sense that they would have a similar feel.

Re: New Identity for London Symphony Orchestra by The Partners

I am impressed by their commitment to the core idea. They went through with a full motion capture, animated it, created custom typography based on it, created spreads based on that, all while staying faithful to the original design intent. It is a rare and beautiful thing to see that level of faithfulness and commitment to a creative scheme, and I believe that for that reason alone, this is a success.

I also see truly great execution of the ideas here. It was a good idea, well executed. The last consideration is: does it work for this organization at this time? It seems to me that it does; I initially didn't think that the magazine spreads really worked, as I found myself thinking, "What does it mean?". However, upon further consideration, I think it's because it's such a leap forward that I was initially hesitant. I love it, and I'm thrilled to see a historic organization truly taking a leap forward.

Re: I was bored today.

Looks like the Cotten men are hijacking this thread. So be it.

I happen to know what the Objects In Question (OIQ) are, but I can wish that they were heavenly orbs of squishy goodness, sent from a Revival Angel to smear ooey gooey anointment on all the conference attendees, taking the worship experience to new heights of fuzzy warmth and bringing about spontaneous sanctification! Yeah!

Unfortunately, the OIQs have an entirely different purpose.

OR DO THEY?!

Re: Joomla 1.6 beta coming soon

It's gonna take a lot more work to set up Joomla with 1.6. I also second Rob's comment. I feel an uneasiness about all of this. For instance, the way he talks about nested Categories, it's like they don't understand why we all need to be able put articles into multiple nested categories. That's extremely troubling.

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

Well you didn't have to shout, but yay!!!

Re: Logo Design Part 2

@Karmen Yeah, I'm glad that my foibles can bring joy to so many. You might be right about them being found objects, rather than created objects. By the by, where'd you get the idea for your username (Jimmy Groove)? JimmyGroove is an old comic character than a friend and I came up with in High School, and I'm known as Jimmy Groove on lots of old chat forum posts. Small world. I never would have thought that somebody else would have come up with that exact same name. Funny!

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

Fascinating. It wasn't ironic. I do think he's got a good site, because it's minimalistic, easily navigated, and successfully puts the content front-and-center. My comments on how he crushed the cans still stands, because of the particular way the cans were crushed. The were all crushed in such a way to keep the important parts of each can's graphics unsullied by crinkles, rust or scratches. I think we'd all agree that usually when you crush a soda can, you can't control which parts of the can become marred by wrinkles or scratches.
If your comment is in re: to the rest of his portfolio, well that's your opinion. But let's stay civil in how we critique other artists' work.

Re: Retro Futuristic Trend

Thanks. We wanted the blog to represent a welcoming, warm, friendly atmosphere. Wood, paper and hand drawn elements made the most sense.

@Carol interesting take on the new look. Accessibility concerns are always paramount to any designer - whether web, print, video or otherwise. There is some debate among interface designers as to how much contrast is the right amount for on-screen use. In paper media, more contrast is (almost) always better, and results in greater readability. However, we're finding that as regards on-screen use, a lower contrast between content and background is a much more enjoyable solution because of the potential of eye strain and eye fatigue that is associated with higher contrast ratios.

Some of these decisions are necessarily based on some form of personal preference ultimately, and all the scientific studies will not allay a user's bad experience. So, I do apologize for your unpleasant user experience, but the typeface size, families, color scheme, et al have been meticulously chosen using worldwide usability standards and psychological/physiological color theory rules. Therefore, we welcome your feedback, and in fact we request your feedback - ESPECIALLY the negative feedback. However, on this particular point I am forced to disagree from what I believe is a purely professional standpoint, and therefore can not change the font settings. I surely hope that the low contrast and color scheme of the new site will not inhibit your user experience to a point wherein you can't partake of Wellspring's ministry. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me through my website. I welcome your comments.

http://www.trendsettingonli...

Re: Wellspring Website and Blog

Thanks!
