I signed up for the trial of Enterprise Upgrade, decided not to buy it at the end of the trial, deleted the account (as told to do by Google support) and presto, Powerwash functionality was deactivated on my device and there was no way to get it back. Google support told me I'd have to return the device to the store from which I bought it.

Moreover, all I ever wanted to do with it is access my file server via SMB and pull up PDF files. Over a month in I never could get it to access the server.

So much for 52 seconds.

Re: Google Announces Android Support for Foldable Devices

I'm curious for a screen that flips up for a long narrow display, making more room for input interfaces.

Re: Sicp Goodness - Why you don't need looping constructs

Nice post. As the creator of Ruby Facets I was looking forward to adding support for refinements, but I soon discovered I would have to maintain a **second copy of every method** with refinement boiler plate wrapped around them. That just wasn't worth the hassle. If instead matz had made refinements a simple mechanism of loading the *same code* in two different ways, e.g. `require` vs `refine`, then I think we would have seen a lot more uptake. Both Ruby Facets and Active::Support would have been largely ready to be used via refinement out the gate.

Re: Molten Salt Reactor Claims Melt Down Under Scrutiny

It is natural for people, especially young people, to be over exuberant about their perceived success. We really need to stop flailing people every time things don't meet the hype. We end up only hurting ourselves. We see this far too often -- the media is all over some breakthrough claims, then expectations aren't met, then all the money drys up and the entire branch gets labeled quackery. Cold fusion research, for example, is still recovering almost 30 years later even though the field has legitimate applications even if not net energy positive.

Re: High Profile Double Shot by Filco

You can't beat the price and the keys are solid. I thought Flexbox was going to finally fix layout craziness. Alas I find my self wrestling with it just as much as I did with divs. For decades we've had tables and they work pretty well, but we are constantly told not to use them for layout. Yet to this day they can't seem to make something for layout that works as well? Insane.

Re: The Birkana hexadecimal number symbols

That's pretty cool. It's the stupid emotional cuts, like when she is so proud of Foggy during his opening statement. He barely said two words, and she's gushing with pride for him. Those cuts were over done and poorly timed. That's just bad directing and editing, that make Karen look bad.

Re: The Top 5 Best & Worst Things About Daredevil

I can forgive bits of weak acting -- it takes time to grow into a character. But some of the writing is terrible. (Spoilers) Who in their right mind kills his compatriots to save a girl, but later admits she was going to have to be killed anyway? (Stick literally said that) Then when Stick finally tries to kill her he sends someone he knows can't win? Then she comes to kill Stick but with just a few words from our Hero she suddenly changes here mind *again*. No one is that on the fence about killing someone. It's ridiculous. Worse, Matt can't hear Ninjas. But stick tells him, "you have to go deeper and listen to their breath" Really? He can hear Stick whisper this from 100 yards in another room, but he never noticed people breathing before? So stupid. I'll also mention that the choreography on the fights is too often weak as well. Not only are their too many obvious misses, but Daredevil gets hit way too much for a superhero. By any realistic account he would be dead.

On the upside, the whole Punisher subplot turned out pretty good.

Re: PolitiPlatform - Jeb Bush's Policies

You forgot "Take the American people for a third ride."
