The article references 6.1% for players 50 and older, where do you get "one in six" by age 50?

Re: Blue White Round Table – Freakin’ Iowa Edition

"Perhaps what they should do is a dollar dog first half days for students. Maybe then the student section would be filled before half time for the 'below the radar' games."

No worries about that on Saturday! The students won't be hungry (nor sober!) by kickoff!

Re: Blue White Round Table – Freakin’ Iowa Edition

"Dollar Dog Days seem to work at Phillies games. I wouldn’t mind seeing that at Beaver Stadium! Everybody flocks to cheap hot dogs."

But isn't that a way to pack the stadium? Selling tickets doesn't seem to be much of an issue at Beaver Stadium. And isn't there a fundamental difference between a baseball game and a football game in terms of tailgating?

Re: USA Today Poll Ranks Penn State #5, #14 Sounds About Right

"Funny, the conditions were so bad that Iowa passed the ball right down the field in the same conditions you describe."

You were obviously not at the game. On the final drive Iowa had a strong wind at their back. 47 of the game's 57 points were scored in that end zone.

"I know you will remember that I blamed that loss on Joe anyway. If we had heaters on the sideline like Iowa, our defense wouldn't have been running around with lead feet on the last drive."

Sorry, it wasn't that cold.

"And by the way Kev, lets make a bet. We will put your feet in a bucket of ice for an hour. You can keep your track shoes on. Then we will race 40 yards for a million bucks."

It was nowhere "feet in a bucket of ice" weather. Low 30s and windy, a few flakes, but not wet. (This is a first-hand report from the end zone where most of the points were scored. Wind in our face and it was fine.)

Moreover, the defense wasn't sitting around for an hour. The only person who appeared to be cold was Jeremy Boone, because he hardly did anything the whole game.

Re: USA Today Poll Ranks Penn State #5, #14 Sounds About Right

Bob, do you we dare ask what you think of the Missouri voter who has Penn State 3rd (!) in the AP poll?

Re: USA Today Poll Ranks Penn State #5, #14 Sounds About Right

Come on, Bob, your analysis of Clark is ridiculous.

He was on the bench against Ohio State BECAUSE HE HAD A CONCUSSION!!! It had nothing to do with "clutch play." Besides, I'm pretty sure he could have done what Devlin did to win the game. Devlin handed the ball off a bunch of times and threw a pass way over DWill's head.

As for Iowa, the conditions were tough (very windy), but he handed the defense a 9-point lead heading to the fourth quarter. The pick hurt, but so did the brutal pass interference call on Scirrotto. (If anything it was OFFENSIVE p.i.

Re: USA Today Poll Ranks Penn State #5, #14 Sounds About Right

We'd love to disagree with you, but we think a fair ranking for Penn State is somewhere between 12th and 17th right now.

Re: Penn State football, week two: Greg Paulus to start for Syracuse

Thanks, Karen. The percentages are the percentage within each group that make all-conference. It's not the percentage of all-conference players that come from each group.

There are far more 4-stars who make all-conference than 5-stars, because they are a much larger group. However, a random 5-star will make all-conference far more often and a random 4-star.

Thanks for commenting.

Re: What is the significance of football recruiting stars?

phil4real: "That would mean that 27.4% of non-ranked players and one star recruits will be all-conference?"

phil, we're not sure how you did you math, but your claim is surely not true.
