I'm actually curious what the fan base is thinking. Also, this is same exact look I have watching our Sox piss away their season.

Re: http://patspropaganda.com/post/5462133613

I watched the entire series of these pre-draft. Actually watched them with a buddy who coaches at the high school level in CT(his father coached high school football for over 20 years) & we both came away most impressed with Mallett. It was funny because I mentioned him as being the type of guy who really seemed to need to go to an organization like the Pats, who could groom him for a while, as opposed to throwing him to the wolves right away on a bad team. My friend agreed & took it a step further & said Mallett was a "perfect" prospect for a team like the Colts or Saints. He thought his skill set in a dome for 8 games a year(minimum) would be a killer for teams to have to try & scheme against, especially on a "fast track". Add to that being tutored by Manning or Payton/Brees AND a fan base/media that is not considered too tough on it's pro athletes, he would have a real chance to be the best QB in this draft class, by far.

We touched base after the draft & both agreed that Mallett looks to be a steal for N.E. The only concerns are whether or not he is mature enough to move past his off field issues, as well as how successfully the Pats rebuild their O-line. If he ever takes the field for real snaps, he will need a wall for an offensive line because his escapability in the face of a good pass rush is not in his tool box.

Re: http://nbaoffseason.com/post/4586009848

How dare you, Bob?!? A 2nd or 3rd round corner would be someone whom could use 2011 as a season to grow & then compete for a starting spot in 2012. Bodden is solid but if, god forbid McCourty goes down, the Pats are left with Butler & Arrington having to play a lot more and while it was acceptable with the level Devin performed at in 2010, a Bodden/Arrington/Butler combo would concern me against any team with a good passing attack.

As for the Tackle position, I have felt they needed to build depth since the loss to the Giants in the SB & injuries always demand that your OL depth be maximized. I'm not saying take a guy in the 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd, but again, a 4th or 5th rounder to develop would be nice. If they had kept Larsen last year, this position would be fine, but the numbers roster game cost them a good prospect.

The Pats could also go the Free Agent route at either position and be okay, but some depth in the secondary & offensive line certainly needs some solidifying.

Re: Isiah Thomas Is Delusional

You need to listen to the 790 AM(in Miami) podcast from today or check on their site for just the Isiah interview Dan Lebatard did. Every Knicks fan would be horrified if they did so because Thomas acts as if it's when, not if, he takes over the Knicks again. Never mind that he also said if it weren't for the trial or the toxic relationship he ended up having with the fans, LeBron would be a Knick. Not once did he mention that he was responsible for his own behavior.

Re: http://nbaoffseason.com/post/1218605242

Why are you YELLING?!?

Re: http://nbaoffseason.com/post/1194425678

In what universe has Drew Gooden ever won an NBA Def Player of the Year Award??!? However, you can't write a post on this topic and NOT mention the fact that KG missed the playoffs last year. It was a HUGE reason they didn't get past Orlando. Tell me, if the Magic were without Rashard Lewis or Hedo Turkoglo or say the Lakers were without Pau Gasol or Lamar Odom, do either of them make the Finals? .

To some extent the overall point may be valid, but again, you just can't overlook KG's absence-while including a photo of him--while making it.

Re: http://nbaoffseason.com/post/528748119

Shaq just put a spin move on Noah that was simply embarrassing. Last spring, you cleared out for Hedo and let him create shots for himself or someone else. Worked all the way to the Finals. What about this spring? Dwight Howard takes 10 shots a game and disappears down the stretch. According to 82games.com, Howard averaged 16.0 crunch-time points per 48 minutes, such a staggeringly low number that Al Horford (17.0) and Udonis Haslem (23.9) topped him, Andrew Bogut (16.0) tied him and Joakim Noah (15.6) nearly tied him. And that's fine. He was still the third-most valuable player in the league. (At least in my opinion.) But you can't win in the playoffs without someone creating quality shots in the last four minutes."

So he is making the same argument you are, but comes to a completely different conclusion. If a team can deny Howard the ball in the low post, or if he isn't even demanding it, Orlando will have to count on Lewis(not a terrible option), Carter(ain't happenin'), or Reddick(really ain't happenin') to generate offense by knocking down outside shots. Orlando's depth is a bit overstated when it's not being utilized. They tend to either stand around and watch Howard or get itchy trigger fingers and let it fly from beyond the arc.

Now, you're absolutely right in your post. IMO, the last 6 minutes of close games--lead is within single digits--are dominated by big time players. In the past we have seen not only stars own these moments in games(Jordan, Bird, Duncan) but also role players like Derek Fisher & Robert Horry. Do the Magic have that guy, because I don't see Dwight Howard taking a game over, ala, LBJ, Kobe, or Wade.

BTW, here's the link to Simmons column: http://sports.espn.go.com/e...
It has a chart via 82games.com that supports the argument that Howard is not even close to being Orlando's dominating crunch time player...yet.

Re: http://hotfootblog.com/post/489083562

Oh no, you do not want Chris Carter playing in the field unless absolutely necessary. When he was with the Red Sox they experimented with him as a 1B & OF and he holds up temporarily and then begins to butcher plays in bunches. He is also the type of guy who allows defensive struggles to affect him at the plate.

He is going to be one of the hardest working players on the team, hustles all the time, and will provide some timely hitting, but with the glove he is a guy you want to try & hide out there because the ball will find him in a big spot.

Re: My Apology to Everyone

*gagging*

Re: So Kentucky’s pretty good this year…

Patrick Patterson is another big time (college)player. Spring is in the air, indeed.

Basically I was just busting Steph's chops--Grace was an All-Star, not a "Super"-star--and not really being serious. However, now that Ms. Wei is a legit journalist, working on a story for a major media outlet I might add, I felt the need to make sure she was being held accountable for her reporting. Wha?!? In what universe Steph? I know you have the resources to have checked and confirmed that he was just a good player, who benefited in the popularity dept. from playing with the Cubs.

Also, did you notice Lopez writing down other people's jokes after he heard them? The stadium is not in Miami. Actually it;s barely in the same county. Let's put it this way, most of the press is staying in Ft Lauderdale rather than Miami & by doing so it cuts the commute to the stadium in half.

Re: Omar’s Fine With The Current Rotation

He is delusional if he thinks he is getting enough quality starts out of the current group of pitchers on the 40 Man Roster. After all, it's the rare occasion when a team is able to roll out a 5 man staff in April & get 180+ innings and 30+ starts--with maybe half a dozen by an emergency starter--that are of the quality to get you to the post season. There's probably been a couple of others, but for the sake of discussion lets use the one team that I do recall having pulled this feat off n the recent past--the 2004 Red Sox--to show how remarkable the make up of your staff must be:
Curt Schilling 21-6 in 32 games w/226.2 IP
Pedro Martinez 16-9 33 games w/217 IP
Tim Wakefield 12-10 30 games w/188 IP
Derek Lowe 14-12 in 33 games w/182.2 IP
Bronson Arroyo 10-9 in 29 games w/178.2 IP

They got 5 games started outside of their top 5. They also had 5 VERY good pitchers aged 27 or older. What do the 2010 Mets have right now? Actually, never mind what they have. Rather, what do they HOPE to have? Santana coming off an injury? Maine & Perez, the same. Is Pelfrey ready to make the leap?

That Sox team was the exception, not the rule, and now the Mets have backed themselves into a corner. If they are going to sign any of the remaining SP out there, they should just be aggressive by going after Wang & Sheets--who at least have high ceilings for potential if healthy--while still scouting for a durable pitcher who may somehow become available via trade in ST.

Re: More Than Mary - A lot of fedora and even more Facebook.
