I slaget om Narvik var norske styrker, og Altabataljonen spesielt, meget toneangivende. Deltok offensivt mot tyskerne og hadde samtidig en del av bataljonen avsatt til forsvar mot et ev. angrep fra Russland, som jo hadde skjedd i Polen. Under 7% av bataljonen eller de etterlatte derfra som har fått krigspensjon.

Største delen av krigshandlingene i Norge foregikk i Nord-Norge, men ikke en kjeft derfra har fått krigskorset, med unntak av general Carl Gustav Fleischer.

Seems like Laravel is becoming more and more opinionated and including a growing amount of "magic". The number of times I hear "behind the scenes" or "Laravel does this automatically" seems to be increasing in your videos @jeff_way.

Indeed. MÅ være Telenor-kunde, kan KUN bruke gitte kunder og løsningen krever installasjon av en app som KUN finnes på enkelte plattformer og til enkelte enheter. Det er bare Apple som har en lojal nok følgerskare til å presse gjennom sånne ting :)

I'm discussing the fact that you prefer a form of government which has given you more crime, shorter life expectancy, less educated people, less healthcare, higher infant death rates, more poor people, more unhealthy people and has a much higher debt than even Greece, per person. You call it a republic, yet it looks more and more like a police state now that Snowden has spilled his guts on the massive surveillance setup, and people are rioting on a daily basis protesting against a violent and racist police force.

From where I'm sitting it looks like a land of less opportunity and freedom, but with a worse standard of living. But if you prefer it that way there's probably nothing anyone can say to change that.

Oslo - Kirkenes, without crossing over into neutral Sweden, is 2500 kilometers on today's roads. The same distance as Oslo - Rome. And the geography is not as blitzkrieg-friendly as continental Europe.

Plus it was the coastline, and ice free harbour of Narvik, from where iron ore from Sweden was/is shipped out, that was most interesting to the Germans.

Oslo was captured less than 12 hours after the heavy cruiser Blücher was sunk. 800-900 men died with Blücher, hence perhaps the appearance of heavy losses close to Oslo. But almost 50% of German losses occured at sea, and not on land in Oslo. And there was no major battle at sea near Oslo, except for the sinking of Blücher done by a coastal fort.

Embarrasing fact: The cabinet issued only a silent and partial mobilization order on the morning of 9 April 1940. The members of the cabinet failed to understand that the partial mobilization they had ordered would, according to the regulations in place, be carried out in secret and without public declarations. Troops would be issued their mobilization orders by post (!). This of course led to unnecessary delays in the Norwegian mobilization.

No wonder there was no opposition in Oslo, right? Not sure if you realized, but the picture I posted of smiling troops was from the capitol, which is Oslo. Which was taken by surprise and without Norway even having mobilized properly.

Wrong again. And again. Blücher was sunk trying to get into Oslo to capture the government and royal family, but Germans still marched the streets of Oslo on 9 April 1940. Not much resistance there. The only real resistance they saw was in Narvik, Northern Norway, where they for the first time in WW2 lost a battle.

Germany faced real resistance and lost their first WW2 battle in Narvik, Norway. Norway held out longer than any of the other European states, except Britain and the Soviet Union. Sounds like we agree?

We were discussing which other European states held their own for more than 62 days, except Britain and the Soviet Union. You suggested Greece, Yugoslavia and North Africa. I looked up the dates.

Yugoslavia: 6-18 April 1941. Unconditional surrender at 17 April. Yes, of course partisan activity continued, as it did in all of Europe. Germany used 24 days to subdue mainland Greece: 6-30 April 1941. Crete was taken on a campaign from 20 May - 1 June 1941.

North Africa is still not a part of Europe, nor is it a state.

Yes, some Norwegians were traitors, joined the German ranks or fraternized with the Germans during the occupation. For this, a lot of them (and their war children) paid the price, both in the following legal purge and in their communities, by punishment handed out by locals.

Yugoslavia and Greece are two different countries. Yugoslavia, with it's 15,7 mill. people lasted 12 days from what I can tell. Had to look it up though. Greece was invaded by Italy, not Germany. North Africa neither is nor was a state in 1940, European or otherwise.
