I totally agree with you both, David and Derek - I come across so many authors with outstanding material in their books and they fail to have a powerful web presence, educational program, or information product around their expertise. Mainly its because they're trying to do it all themselves or they haven't been exposed to the idea of expanding their brand by creating valuable information products.

One author that comes to mind that is leveraging their expertise really well is Simon Sinek - he has an education program based off his book, Start With Why. Great way to leverage technology.

I dig the approach to product publishing for authors and I see the need for it. The only company I really see taking advantage of this concept and making a killing is MindValley LC.

Thanks for the shout out! I have to agree with you - The MAC is the best computer I've ever had. If you're a hustler and planning to spend time on the net do yourself a favor and get a MAC. I use a regular MACBOOK and it works perfect, will go PRO when the MACBOOK fizzles.

On the discussion of picking a niche - it makes total sense to use the skills you have to apply to a totally different market, even one that you have strong ties too. This is something my biz partner and I are doing. You really find out how much value you can add to an untapped niche when you share your knowledge.

Interesting points - I wonder what the outcome will be, In my opinion I don't see it being a MYSPACE mess. I think these platforms learned from MySpace and Friendster (if they didn't, shame). However if twitter falls other platform will raise. I guess we will just have to enjoy the ride of social marketing.
