The occupation of Afghanistan lasted twenty years. The occupation of Palestine 70 plus years. The final outcome will eventually be the same. Occupations of foreign land will ultimately end in disaster for the occupiers. By the way occupations can last for many decades even centuries. Ireland is a case in point. It's occupation by Britain lasted some 300 years! Dutch occupation by Spain 80 years, France appr ten ? years and Germany five years.

I have more confidence in the Russian elections which are monitored by a team of international observers, than the American elections, which have always been rigged to the core.

I am very, very pleased that New Zealand has the brain not joining this hostile pact. Diplomacy yes! but 19th century gunboat diplomacy NO. That does not work in the 21st century and leads to disaster as we have seen in Afghanistan. And remember China is not alone, it has Russia at its site.

The Taliban would create a lot of goodwill in the world if they were to give women equal rights as men. Russia and China should make it a precondition for recognition of the regime.

If the Taliban wants to survive it has to change.(Period). China sees great potential in Afghanistan for its B&R Initiative. Beijing wants to extend its fast railways connections to Eurasia through Afghanistan to Iran as well and further west-wards to Sirya and Lebanon with access to the Mediterranean . This will open up these countries to rebuild its infrastructure and trade with bordering countries. Afghanistan has a lot of raw materials, such as iron ore, copper etc. There are however conditions. Taliban has to break with ETIM the East Turkistan Islamic Movement a terrorist organisation (recently taken of the terrorist list by the US) that was creating mayhem among the Uighurs in Xinjiang province. China is supported by Russia, both are secular societies that won't tolerate religious (Islamic) intolerance.
