I think she is very funny and incredibly talented but I'm not a fan of the UCB's policy of not paying comedians whose performances keep their NYC theater's afloat and costs down. They bring in paying audiences unlike the sparsely attended sketch shows. Pay the comics.

All these statements about Kroger "following the local and state laws" are complete garbage. Kroger stores are private property and as an owner or lease-holder of private property, you are completely within your rights to prohibit firearms, open carry or conceal carry, at your place of business, regardless of state and local laws.

Thanks for writing the book and this article. I look forward to reading the book. After being a football fan when I was a kid, it has since soured me with the ridiculous privilege given to players starting as young as junior high school. Now we have an entire generation of college kids assuming lifelong debt in part to support billionaire NFL owners who choose to not invest in a viable minor league, letting colleges bear the cost with student fees and increased tuition.

A pragmatic view would recognize that with Americans' unfettered access, courtesy of the NRA, to unlimited firearms including assault rifles, 50 caliber sniper rifles, large capacity magazines, and armor piercing bullets, the police need to have some protection from the public they are supposed to serve. Just yesterday, in Los Angeles, a police officer was seriously wounded by a suspect with a "high powered" assault rifle, the officer was _inside_ an armored vehicle when he was shot. This creates a cycle of escalation that only benefits arms manufacturers.

The comments here are so much more positive than what is on Facebook which immediately devolved into how tough mothers have it, and that fathers are generally irresponsible and not involved in raising their children. This incident is much more about drunk assholes than the Giants/Dodgers on-field rivalry or anything even remotely connected to safety at AT&T Park since this occurred at a bar more than a half mile away from the game. The two groups involved in the fight were drinking at the bar, mutual insults and provocation led to the fight. Some reports even indicate that Denver himself instigated the fight that led to his own death. Positioning this event as evidence of out-of-control, pumped-up Giants fans falling upon and killing an innocent Dodgers fan on AT&T Park property is incredibly misleading and will only deepen animosity. There was bound to be at least one shitty show in this arena format that Chapelle chose to participate in and it was bound to happen earlier in the tour than later. This kind of show is particularly bad for the audience and only redeeming for the performer in the form of the huge check they get after the show. For a city that has a much higher black population than white, it's "funny" that Chapelle blamed what happened to him on white people - but let's not pretend that Chapelle said what he said for any other purpose than to make it easier for him to tell a bad joke to an audience in another city.
