I thought that removing not relying on the back button forces websites to behave more like desktop apps. However I see that benefits of being able to move to previous screens easily.

My only problem is when the back button is the only way to return to a previous screen as has happened to me on several sites that I have made into apps via Chrome.

Re: RealVote – my simple promise to democracy

Just stumbled across this post; albeit a few months later then most! I think you've outlined a great personal manifesto that hopefully will challenge yourself and the broader community to engage in a real and tangible manner.

I assume you're aware of the Hack the Vote iniative? http://hackthevote.com/

Re: 10 Tools for Getting Web Design Feedback

I work for a company (www.rtraction.com) that built a feedback tool for internal use that we've since shared to the public called Compost (http://compo.st/). Its open source and lets you share composites with clients and partners and receive feedback on through annotations, ratings, and discussions.

Re: 5 Social Media Trends to Watch Right Now

These are a great bunch of emerging trends. I fully agree that having a social media policy is going to be an important piece going forward. Because of its importance we've released www.policytool.net After answering a simple set of questions a customized and free social media policy is generated. Everyone is free to take and customize the policy to fit their organizational needs.

Re: Security Concepts: Job Interview

Thanks for the heads up about the spelling mistake. I think its also interesting to note that the parent company of Gizmodo is Gawker Media who own a number of full out gossip sites. I think that the "journalism" practices of those sites have bled over to Gizmodo.

Re: RIP iPad, I barely knew you…

Yikes, Ed! Really sorry to hear about that.

I've got my own story about something I loved getting runover. I was longboarding in my neighbourhood and heading down a hill on a residential street towards Oxford. I picked up too much speed so I put my foot down to slow. However I lost my balance and shot the longboard out right into Oxford.

It was somewhat comedic as I watched a giant tanker truck appear from behind a building and immediatly smash the longboard into splinters.

Thankfully I was able to rescue the trucks, so if I ever get around to it I can build a new one.

I definitally sympathize.

Re: How Ben Folds Sold an Album via Chatroulette

I don't fully agree with your assessment that Ben Folds has surpassed Merton. Merton has had over 4 million views on his YouTube videos. http://www.youtube.com/user...

This shift in communication has obviously redefined celebrity. Ben Folds has even talked about how he's paying homage to someone like Merton http://mashable.com/2010/04...

Re: What 3.0 All About Anyway?

Thanks for you comment Aaron. That is exactly what I'm thinking we'll see in the next couple of years. When we want to connect with anyone we will no longer be dependent on one platform or technology. Even more importantly our real world experiences won't be limited by our five senses and our current location and environment.

I think that the greatest challenge to this is the current thinking and philosophies of telecoms in North America. Until they are forced to change some of their business practices we are going to be limited.

Re: Old East Village

Chris, I found the bagels at Village Curiosities (http://www.lfpress.com/news... Corner of Dundas and Elizabeth

Kevin, it will be interested to compare your earlier photos to the ones you'll soon take. I no longer think that Security Concepts is a worthwhile employer, or have they done anything to change their practices.

Re: The road less traveled: A confession: I was the one who came forward about the Macbook Air

What kind of ridiculous response is this Scoble? I'm sorry that you came to my site looking for more information, but what I shared above was my experience as someone looking for a potential job.

If you do find yourself hired by Security Concepts, I hope you will come back and share with us your insider experiences with the company.

Re: An Opportunity to Reset the Agenda for Canadian Democracy

I'm going to echo your comments Mark. If democracy is to succeed in Canada (and the larger global context) citizens need to focus on creating governments that are a representation of what they want and the issues that are important to the country, not a few people in government. And this is not going to be possible if we focus on individual people or parties.

While I can understand the oppositions desire to take this turn of events and run with it for their own benefit, I hope the broader citizenry, can look past that and start to clamor for real representation.

Re: Favourite Rainy-Day Albums of the 00′s

Great list Brian!
