A dictionary of terms is a worthwhile endeavor and no one in their right mind would doubt that the actual creativity in developing this world belongs to Rowling.  I think there is a place for this type of thing...I find Mr. Vander Ark's web-site very thoughtful and entertaining and I certainly believe that it adds commentary that enables the reader to look at the books in a new way.  I think Rowling made a mistake, both morally, logically, and in public relations.  It's especially ironic considering JKR borrows liberally in plot and descriptive words from LOTR and from Dorothy Sayers (not plot so much in that case).
