(For those who don't know me, Type A-B-Scorpio-female-entrepreneur with prior experience/education in business, etc...)

I opened my art gallery not only to sell art, but also to challenge the fine art establishment & use art as a catalyst for dialogue, community engagement & social change. I am gathering momentum slowly, & had planned on a number of events/activities for 2009 to continue on this path. I'm excited to see we are on the same wavelength & am happy to combine forces where it makes sense & contribute where I can & am needed.

Given the state of the world, the time is ripe for us to forge a different way of doing business and living in communities. There are a few of us who are not accepting the status quo & more will join us when they see it can be done.

I am keen to do something - not for the sake of doing it - but to create something where there is a need that is not being filled right now. I would like to brainstorm with you all on what those needs are more specifically, within the Arts & Crafts sector. Yes it is nice to have peer-to-peer education a la [insertword]Camp, but I want to do something that impacts the broader community much beyond those who are tech savvy or connected on Twitter. Getting the same people together in a room to teach other the same things is not what we need. Using our interconnectedness & skillsets to make a positive impact on our world *is*.

I'd happy to offer my gallery space for brainstorming where possible, and definitely as a venue for smaller events that fit within our mandate.

Well done for vocalizing this -- I was working in my own bubble until I heard you were onto something very much in line with what I want to do. The more the merrier, and the bigger our impact can be.

p.s. type in para 5 re: "pubic" education :)
