Here are some other facts for you. Yes it does take tough choices in today’s economy, but when you lay-off people to save money, why would you then hire part-time help and approve an increase in pay for the rest of the town employees, including the Mr. Miller? To me that is counter productive? As to "disgruntled folks" not being residents and having no vested interest, I cannot disagree with you more on that statement. Any town employee who has spent over a decade working countless days and nights to make the town a safer place for families to live and raise their children and build trusting relationships which have long lasting effects on peoples lives certainly has a vested interest in the community. Maybe not as much to the financial aspect as you mention, but it is people that make a town, not a town that makes people. Hopefully we can put a rest to the claim of this mysterious fictional lawsuit. There is none and I would challenge the person who started the fictitious claim to identify themselves and I would certainly be willing to discuss the merits of my claims. I am not afraid to let everyone know who I am and would challenge those who leave comments anonymously to stand-up for their beliefs and thoughts and identify yourselves like I and Mr. Marzi have done in the comments we left. I also hope the election is run on the character, honor and integrity of each candidate as well as their ability to communicate and lead.

Re: Essex First Selectman Contest to Pit Republican Joel Marzi Against Democrat Phil Miller

That is your opinion and clearly a bias one for Mr. Miller. If you’re a town employee who has dedicated over a decade or more of your life trying to make a town safer for its residents and building relationships of trust with families and businesses, I don't think you need to be a resident to show that you have a vested interest. The whole lawsuit issue, whoever started that fictitious rumor still has been unwilling to identify themselves, so that shouldn't be mentioned. If and when any claims of wrong doing are brought to the forefront, then we can discuss those facts! I also hope the election is run on the merits and leadership of the candidates. Once again, I am not afraid to use my name, just as Mr. Marzi used his above to present his point of view, I would also like to see those people who are concerned to be proud of their stance and opinion and to identify themselves to allow for debate and discussion as done in a free democracy.
