Bob Boilen has good reasons for the the music he selects, but definitely favors certain styles and genres. As far as the All Songs crew goes I feel that although they're not terribly adventurous, they do provide a pretty good variety of tastes. Robin Hilton favors slightly more experimental, Stephen Thompson favors slightly more accessible/popular styles, etc... I tend to line up with Thompson more than the others. When it comes to music critiques I find that the music that I trust as good comes from individuals, not organizations. We've all got that handful of friends that when they say "listen to this... you'll love it" you pay attention. Sometimes they're wrong but the majority of the time they're right. And those are the people that I trust.
Although there is legitimately "good" and "bad" music out there, the majority of music reviews come down to taste and personal preference more than anything. We could have a scale of 1-10 for categories like uniqueness, musicianship, etc... but when its all said and done the majority of music that's out there is enjoyable to someone. And I didn't read the article so this is a completely uninformed comment on your comment on someone else's comment.

Re: 4 Reasons Threadless Owns Social Media and Community

You left off one of the biggest reasons... they make a sweet product that people like and like to share (both real world and facebook style).

Re: Commercial Skipping With SageTV – Comskip and Dirmon2

Awesome! My main htpc on the main floor is one that I built a couple years ago and now that it has a good power supply and good airflow has been running like a champ. I've got a couple of old Dells and we want to add dvr functionality to our TV in the basement. My plan is to get a new video card ($50ish) that will offload all the video decoding. I've also thought about the extender route, but regardless of which I choose, I'm worried our wireless network will be insufficient for streaming the HD. Its wireless N but I've heard mixed comments about streaming HD over wireless. Any thoughts? Is there an easy way to get some sort of stable network connection that I'm unaware of?

Re: Quick Update – SageTV 7 Beta Available for Download

Was just doing some tweaking of my Sage setup and browsing the forums and I see something about a public beta... boo yah.
