Once you move above one mic, and hitting record while the band plays the tune top to bottom, studio work has always involved using every available method and tool to work around "restrictions". These days, those tools are virtually unlimited, and the chance of a band being able to all play through a song together and produce a compelling take is lower than ever.

For me, the rhythm circuit is my eBow setup--which always needs to have the tone and volume rolled off substantially in comparison to my "picking" volume/tone.

Love the new record, not liking the details of the tour budgeting model.

Given the extensive planning you did for the initial Kickstarter project target budget (which was quickly exceeded due to fan enthusiasm), it seems doubtful that you forgot to budget for the necessary backing musicians for the tour, so one can only conclude that you decided that you could find sufficiently skilled backing without actually paying them, even after significantly more money was made available by your supporters for the project--all of which seems to have been happily applied to lots of things that aren't musicians' wages.
Of course, record labels have been shorting their musician employee-serfs for years--offering the chance to chase their dream without actually getting paid, but after all the complaining you did regarding Roadrunner's unwillingness to fund Dresden Dolls videos, tours, webpages, etc., this seems a bit rich. But now, you're the record label.

Lots of little things--having the controls on a screw-in plate (as in your picture above) so that they could be assembled separate from the body and adjusted after the guitar was assembled, even with the strings at tension. Try that with your ES.

I seem to recall Corky getting fired from the Chronicle once for reviewing a band that was actually a no-show because...Corcoran also didn't attend the show, but wanted to get paid for the review regardless. After that he did his time in DFW for a few years before coming back to lame, average Austin yet again.

We've had paid parking in Fremont for a while now, and it's still hard to find parking, so I guess more people are coming here then when you could park for free. The only difference I've noticed is my co-workers either park further away, or commute via public transportation/walking/biking.

From the news reports, the WM guys were already making a living wage and wanted a much better living wage, whereas WM was only willing to offer them a better living wage. I suspect we can find some people who are willing to accept a "mere" living wage to do the collections.

No-one has ever been killed by a falling jumper off the Aurora Bridge.
It is extraordinarily unlikely.

There's like a half-dozen people who live in the fall-zone, in house boats. I don't see why taxpayers should fork out millions for these folks. If you're squeamish about the possibility of seeing a jumper aftermath, don't live there.

The press doesn't report on each one when it happens, but it does get discussed. There have been about 230 total, so the average is about 2.95/year.

On October 2, 2006 the PI reported the following Aurora jumper deaths, by year:

1995: 4
1996: 2
1997: 3
1998: 2
1999: 1
2000: 2
2001: 2
2002: 4
2003: 3
2004: 3
2005: 5
2006: 7

I've worked right next to the bridge for the last ten years, and 4-6 deaths/year for the last few years sounds about right. I'm sure if had been more than the 2006 number, we would have heard about it.

Contrast that with the Ship Canal, which in the same period averaged one per year. Apparently not enough of a problem to justify suicide phones, let alone a fence.
