And my mother, in an act of kindness abetted by an "incurable" fresh-off-the-boat fresh-i-tude, did buy me several months supply of both red *and* blue flavored Gatorade.

Thanks for the well-wishes. It truly means a lot.

Re: You don't know me ay?

You have to find this article, "Larissa MacFarquhar, "Putting the Camp Back into Campus," [[Lingua Franca (magazine)|]] (September/October 1993); see also Judith Butler, "Decamping," Lingua Franca (November-December 1993)"

It's the apogee of academic kerfuffles (aside from the Sokal "hoax" which has been so over-played by Sokal himself - he just put out book #3 on the affair! - that one cringes at the mere thought of the sad man.)

Re: You don't know me ay?

Seriously! After reading your original splayd post, I was sure that the sublimely nomenclatured* utensil had been a product of your mad-imagination (or, if you prefer, your "madgination.")

Upon second inspection of your comments section, I discovered otherwise. Then a gasp of horror: could this mean...the nectacotum is *not* a fictive cultivar from the mind of a picaro?

The magic of the internetwebzone said "aye." I am both horrified and pleased, a not unpleasant thing altogether.

* yeah, I made that a verb. The season is nearly ending, and the new season opens in October.

The tickets are extraordinarily expensive. You can pay up to $170 for orchestra (floor) seats. I am a student, and I use this wonderful program called "Next Student Tickets." It's an outreach education program that allows you, as a student, to buy tickets for $20 (2 per student.) I use it and get incredible seats, sometimes worth $170 per ticket.

You can sign up here: http://www.lyricopera.org/e...

Enjoy, and good luck. I can also recommend an Opera if you get in touch.

tien

Re: Foot-dragging

The Russian Far East, as I wrote, looks uncannily like the Appalachia of my youth, if it existed in a parallel universe where time runs backwards and upside down.

Let's goooooo!
