I honestly do not think the names should be removed. That does nothing but continue to hide the problem. The names should be crossed out. So we forever know who failed Kyle Beach.

I don't even know anymore. What the what? Even Bruce Boudreau said the problem was that Wilson won the fight. Panerin shouldn't have taken on a bigger, experienced guy. Should Wilson have just played the rest of the game with Panerin on his back? Unbelievable act of whining and crying ... the Rangers organization should be fined because they wrote such dreck.

I am also a Nationals fan and have grown to love Shawn Doolittle during his tenure there. It somehow seems very right that the Holtbys and the Doolittles are friends and working towards such a wonderful goal. Thank you for highlighting it.

My thoughts exactly. But I think the point is that even this is too much gray area as is evidenced by the fact that players are left to bleed on the ice while play continues because of reluctance to go with this.

In all of the discussion I've seen this evening on the NHL channel they all seem to miss the TWO sucker punches by Gudbrandson while the ref had Hathaway's arms pinned. He's a real toddler for complaining.

I'm very glad to read this post. Thank you for writing it and for being vulnerable enough to let us know how troubling this has been for you. This whole episode is a clear picture of how rape culture is protected by those in charge with the NHL. It is disturbing that Mathews did not own his behavior and is merely concerned with how it effects his team. He needs to be more concerned with how his behavior affected the woman/women he terrorized. This is the dark side of our beloved sport and it is a reflection of society at large.
