Great work in New York! And at the even earlier stage, we should be encouraging independently wealthy women to become active angel investors so these women-led startups can get to the point where they go knocking on VCs' doors. There are tons of rich Xooglers and ex Facebookers funding and mentoring male-dominated startups for guys... so where are the women?

This article by Mike Cassidy talking to Carol Realini (http://www.mercurynews.com/... frames the situation as a numbers game, and that women are finally putting themselves in the game: becoming tech startup founders and going after venture capital. Over time, the numbers will turn in our favor.

We at San Francisco-based Women 2.0 are currently running a "XX Combinator" program of sorts.

Women 2.0 Labs is a 5-week pre-incubator program for tech startups that is pre-populated with hackers.

Women 2.0 hold Founder Friday events globally that precede Startup Weekend, so that women can meet and greet over dinner before heading over to the weekend hackathon together. Simply attending such hackathons can greatly improve one's programming skills, as you're likely to be sitting next to another hacker and co-working, asking questions, and in the near future, hopefully referring someone to a programming job.
