Actually - when you go the foursquare venue page - it shows you your total checkins for that venue. Not all of them are "counted" for your race for mayor. Unique (one per calendar day) checkins in a 60 day period, is what WWIBM calculates for you - which isn't available on the foursquare site.

I thought it was a bug that is the total number of checkins - and some of those are outside the 60 day period.

I thought we had freedom of speech in this country , I bet that will be on the agenda tomorrow on obamas or should i say <barry's> list of things he deems bad for our country . I visited a site called ron kuby a while ago and the twisted things i read on that web site about the tea party made me sick , but that's thier opinion, and thier right's of freedom of speech, but i expresed ,my opinion on the main tea bag party's web site,and i guess it was to christian of a response, because they blocked me from entering it and posting my futher comments, iam not a religous nut , i am only a concerned christian. i love my country ,and i love my lord that does not make me a nut . teabag please respond on this blog

I don't know why but on my blog, the body field does not return after logging in by way of facebook. Thanks for introducing this feature!

I feel like for you it would be ultimately a slow way to consume science news, but i remember you saying you were interested in how science is communicated, and i feel that show does a pretty good job. It doesn't take itself too seriously. their skype interviews with scientists are nice touch, (no production costs!) and their take home at the end is fun.

I wish they would take their segments, and make each one a flash embed, so people can share their segments on the net. i cannot imagine watching that show live. two commercial breaks is killer.

one could argue having children is a huge tax on resources, but you can also say that by rearing a child a certain way, not being tempted by the excesses of child rearing, could keep that from happening. i'm a kid guy. i love kids. i think they make this world so much better. i see no heroism or very little good in choosing not to become a parent because of the idea that children will eat and grow up to be eating adults. phil, you would make a great dad.

being a wifi jumkie, i have noticed a major uptick in password protected routers. i think what happened was that newer routers had password setup now earlier in the wizard process. it is HARD to find free wifi these days.

i read this article last week, and i was really impressed with its candid nature about what doctors get wrong. I was also surprised when Dr. Verghese made that claim about prevention, but i dont think he is saying prevention wont keep people healthy. It is that prevention will not decrease costs large enough to really reform the system.

And he is right, one thing will not bring down costs because the system is way too fucked up for just one thing to reverse this ship's course. It will take behavioral and pattern changes coming from everyone, and prevention, which should be basic, is the least of it. The title "myth of prevention" is an inflammatory one, but i think he is trying to make lawmakers and readers of the WSJ realize the issue with health care is bigger than just doctors changing one aspect of their behavior. You are right though; prevention should be the basic mantra of every physician.

I think also as a doctor, he is taking the blame away from doctors. The idea that this whole system being expensive comes down to doctors telling you "stop smoking" is a dangerous one.

When it comes down to it, patients will live how they want to live, and that means smoking, getting fat, doing drugs, and not exercising. Our healthcare system should be constructed so that it recognizes this may be people's lifestyles and still work.
