Some of the Java/Sun/Oracle/MySQL fear and doubt discussion is surely going to get some strong comments. ;)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;For some of your listeners, here's a writeup on how to set up a headless ubuntu virtualbox environment to get started using virtualbox.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.howtoforge.com/vboxheadless-running-virtual-machines-with-virtualbox-3.0-on-a-headless-ubuntu-9.04-server" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://www.howtoforge.com/vboxheadless-running-virtual-machines-with-virtualbox-3.0-on-a-headless-ubuntu-9.04-server"&gt;http://www.howtoforge.com/v...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Virtual Iron play was a way for oracle to help consolidate the Xen market.  With Oracle a Xen shop, and Redhat moving to KVM, it made sense for oracle to acquire the good bits from Virtual Iron to support their efforts with the Xen hypervisor (oracle unbreakable being based on Redhat enterprise).  Oh and btw, Sun's virtualization play (other than containers) is based on Xen as well.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Oracle has effectively consolidated all the Xen play in the market outside of Citrix.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;@vseanclark Oracle is just the latest steward of Java.
