i agree with alisa that the evolution of SM will transform the world's economic structure.

my theory is that "big business" or corporations will cease to exist and that commerce will be more based on the clay shirky "here comes everybody" model.

i think another hurdle for large companies that want to use social media is that they decide they need social media, but don't really understand what it is, and then they put someone in the company in charge of it who is equally ignorant or apathetic. then they fail and wonder why.

i was talking about this with my friend @robquig who tweets for the austin american statesman as @statesman. rob is exemplifying a successful transition of an old media company into new media. and it is working because rob loves social media, is addicted to twitter, and it was his idea to make @statesman happen.

not some imbecile at the top.

just as an aside, i love all u ladies, but four makes it hard for me as a viewer. a lot of times it is hard to understand what you are saying because you tend to, as any group of four brilliant women would, talk over each other.
