While I'm sure he has sexist tendencies like every man, David Lynch has repeatedly represented the female experience more intelligently and emotionally than virtually any other male director. Depicting misogyny is not the same as being a misogynist.

That said, as Ed notes, race is admittedly a problem for him.

Hmm, interesting. She is doing it the same several square feet of area. But if it had to do with a previous cat living here, wouldn't she have started right after we moved in? Not 4.5 months later? (Then again, who knows, cats make no sense.)

I don't think I made that claim? I claimed that in all but two states in the U.S., felons lose their voting rights, and provided a citation for that. The argument is that we are very comfortable stripping some rights from people, but pretty squeamish about stripping far less vital rights from others. To strike an equivalency, I'd therefore only have to show that more than two states don't strip medical licenses. But I wasn't even drawing an equivalency, because as I state, the right to vote should be absolute, while the right to practice medicine should not. I believe the point is made sufficiently in that in Illinois does automatically strip voting rights from all incarcerated persons, but does not automatically strip the medical licenses of those convicted of sexual assault.

I've met her, too, briefly! At WAM! 2009. She seemed very bemused and somewhat startled at how excited I was to meet her, actually ... even though I totally did NOT even go full-scale fangirl on her! Haha.

I assumed that it means an after-hours urgent care service. As in, if I call my doctor at night, I will get a message that the office is closed, but that if it is urgent they can connect me to their after-hours urgent care service. I assume it also means doctors having hours available in office outside of 9-5, which is when most practices are open every weekday, only on weekdays, no matter how many doctors are in the practice. That was my understanding of what was written, anyway -- that "our doctors" meant "doctors working in the U.S. not in emergency rooms" -- rather than "my specific preferred doctor."

Thanks, KaeLyn. I always feel like a really bad cat owner whenever I have to take her to the vet (because she hates it and makes me feel so guilty), and like I've always waited too long to do it, so that makes me feel a little bit better.
