This reminds me of it. Marche's book is an "anthology" of the literature of a fictional island nation.

Re: http://thebronzemedal.tumblr.com/post/3067761880

The scariest thing is that it seems obvious that the wealthier communities will have a clear advantage in organizing bids for services; so the needier communities that could really benefit will be the least likely to have them.

Re: http://sherry.tumblr.com/post/2597463151

Books are my therapy. :)

Re: http://thebronzemedal.tumblr.com/post/2300987134

I just hope they're not tossing them in through the drive-up window as well.

Re: http://thebronzemedal.tumblr.com/post/1306236395

San Francisco. So different from his other stuff - the rest of Whitehead's work is terrific but is much more cool and cynical than this. Sag Harbor was like a big 'ol love letter to his childhood.

Re: http://mills.tumblr.com/post/948561737

This is the Chinese highway department's way of punishing lazy employees. The least productive worker each month is forced to endure a whole night of this, and instructed to contemplate their personal failings whilst the nighttime traffic buzzes around them.

Re: http://mills.tumblr.com/post/932360811

I have the same ambivalent feelings about doing post-processing work; I have a whole set of photos from my trip to Ireland in June that i simply dumped into Flickr because I couldn't decide if I wanted to mess with them or not. I would mention though that DFW was not criticizing contemporary poems for being difficult or obscure but for being "involuted". There are, of course, plenty of terrific poets working today - Sharon Olds, Denis Johnson, etc. I think DFW was just taking an easy potshot at how much academic waste is being put out alongside the good stuff.

Re: http://thebronzemedal.tumblr.com/post/595486925

I think it was probably People of Paper by Salvador Plascencia; It's one of my favorites, I recommend it all the time.
