#3 & #4 very much resonate with me... as a volunteer who has been heavily involved several times in the past - once you're no longer involved, or not involved at the level you once were, these 2 points so easily creep up on you - and it's a constant battle to overcome them...

Great post... but I think the fact that we're trying to come up for a new blanket term for contemporary worship just highlights the problem (but if I had to choose, I'd go with "mainstream" - to me, contemporary means 80's & 90's Maranatha Praise worship).

No one turns their dial (or however people tune into radio stations) to the "mainstream music" station. People go to the Top 40 station, or Alternative Rock station, or whatever genre music they enjoy. I think trying to do top 40, alternative rock, brit rock, classic rock and r&b in the same service is equivalent to trying to do a "blended" service with hymns and "contemporary" worship (maybe you could pull it off... but 9 times out of 10, it's not going to work).

Our church, for instance, does throw in the occasional top 40 "pop" song, but for the most part the music could pretty much be put into the category of "brit pop." It's not "mainstream" - it's what guys in their 30's and 40's listen to. If our church did mainstream music, it would sound like Katy Perry, R. Kelly and One Direction.

Churches need to take an honest look at the music they're playing in their services, find the analogous bands and music genres, and classify their worship/music/services accordingly. Does your worship music sound like Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots? Then you have a 90's alternative rock worship service (and let me know where you're located!). If you sound like Rihanna and Katy Perry, you've got yourself a top 40 worship service. If you sound like Coldplay and Keane - you're doing a Brit Rock worship service. Etc, etc.

There's no need to put all "mainstream" music into one bucket - just be honest with yourself in what style of music you actually play at your church, and simply call it what it is.

See, that's where I think you're wrong. Shot quality and poor defensive play have a HUGE impact over save percentage. In addition, shot blocking, while obviously resulting in less shots on net, often also results in a lower save percentage, as only the quality shots are getting through.

Taking a look at one set of stats (in this case, 5-on-5 numbers) rarely gives you the whole picture...

I agree there are definitely bigger problems... though I disagree Luongo is merely average among starters. He's bailed the poor defensive play (by both the forwards and d-men) out numerous games, and has definitely performed well-beyond expectations so far this year. The negativity in both your article and comments down plays that, and does a dis-service to how well he has actually done so far this year. There are only a handful of goalies I would think we would take instead of Luongo at this point in the season (contract aside, of course). ;)

I think Lou has been far above average this season... maybe his STATS are average for starters, but I can think of far more awful plays by defencemen that have results in crappy goals, than I can blunders by Luongo. Is he stealing a bunch of games for us? No, not really... but he's giving us a chance to win pretty much every time he plays. Not to mention the fact that Booby Lou often gets better as the season goes on.

Maybe have it treated like the diving rule? Get "caught" putting yourself in a vulnerable position to draw penalties, and after a couple of offences, a 1-game suspension. I don't think a penalty could be called for it in game, as it's so subjective... but they're not hard to spot, especially after-the-fact.

It's the guys that turn towards the boards with the puck on the boards... they know they can't (legally) be hit, so they can protect the puck, but if they are hit, they're on the PP. The young kids in Edmonton do this ALL THE TIME (Taylor Hall, I'm looking at you, kid!).

I think the suspension is reasonable - he's a repeat offender, and hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Hurtl in the head. 3 games sounds about right to me.

That being said, more and more players are leaving themselves in vulnerable positions because they KNOW if they get hit, they'll draw a penalty. There has to be some onus on the player that's being "hit" to not put themselves in vulnerable positions, or players will start (or rather, continue) to use this to their advantage...

While I've tired of the Infinity Blade games (as everyone else has mentioned, they do become redundant after a certain number of bloodlines), the first book was actually pretty good, and made IB2 more enjoyable to play. Looking forward to giving this one a read next month. *pre-ordered*
