I agree with this entirely. One of my favorite things about Facebook (if I can claim any) is that if you ignore a Friend Request, a Poke, or a "Please like this page" request, people can't ask you again. The moment you say "No" they can ask again, and that's not close enough to the purgatory the past should stay in.

It has to be intentional- text doesn't get there by accident. Flickr does something similar buy setting the description of /every/ page to "Flickr is almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world."

A good method I've used is to look for the in-built metagames and try to hit the achievement spots[1], which I guess is just another method of breaking down elements for a personal release cycle. As for time/work expansion, to quote Gorbachev, "Parkinson's Law works everywhere."[2]

I think the value-add comes from the net-net in the tote bag. Ugh. I mean who reads "scientifically proven methodology and online customer satisfaction metric" and says "Yes PLEASE!"

Then again, it's a conference mostly for the people paying for this sort of junk, and not for the people who have to then use it and say "This really isn't anything special..."

I think we should start considering ourselves retired as soon as possible, so that we're not working 'toward' 65 but instead always remembering that the work we do right now should always be the work we want to be doing (something I'm trying really hard to remember for myself).

I desperately wish to. It is the goal. I've got $23,000 of debt here in Canada and I'd rather clear it all and not require a huge-paying job in Portland, rather than move there right now and end up having to earn a fortune to survive.

I'm six minutes into this episode and thanks for showin' how the sausage is made. I had no problem with the show as it is/was, but I'm pleased to hear about the new plans.

Keeping with the "ingredients" theme, I'll suggest a tag for any time you need to rate or rank things: "the short stack"

I don't know how your personal economies are these days, but I will highly suggest your attendance of MaxFunCon(.com) in May if you can swing it. You'll be able to hob-nob with other big time podcast people, comedy wonders, and generally help get a bunch of exposure for your show.
