The problem with "teat-suckers" is, they actually think, we the taxpayer, want to pay for the teat-sucking parasites. The "public option", is just another entitlement program payed for by taxpayers, against their will, to support an ever growing number of bottom-feeders who think they are owed something.
I suggest you re-think your opinion of, "spreading the wealth".

I was pretty much in agreement with this article until the last paragraph. Private insurers will, NOT DO FINE, if a "public option" or this ridiculous health care bill gets passed.
Insurance reform is badly needed but, it has to be done in a logical, common-sense manner.
Saddling this country with another $Trillion dollar boondoggle that will raise taxes on an already over-taxed population, and cost 10 times more than the government is saying it will, is quite franky, STUPID!!

In "Never Never Land", (Obimbicile-land) everybody has enough to eat, and no one ever gets sick, and everyone has enough money to buy everything they want...don't they?!!
The problem, Mr. Name is, we live in the world of REALITY, where none of that exists! The best we can do is, do the best we can for those who CONTRIBUTE, by working, and paying for themselves (personal-responsibility).
Universal Health Care has to be paid by someone (guess who) ? According to the U.S. Treasury, in 2007 the U.S. had a NEGATIVE-OBLIGATION of $59 TRILLION....TRILLION!! That's more than the ENTIRE WORLD COMBINED!! By the end of 2008 that NEGATIVE-OBLIGATION, will reach $65 TRILLION....that's...$65 TRILLION!!! For all intense and purpose, we're in BANKRUPTCY...and this IDIOT-PRESIDENT, and some in Congress want to push us farther into a debt by passing another entitlement that will cost $TRILLIONS, and adding that bill to a bill we CANNOT-SUSTAIN?!!
This isn't rocket-science Mr. Name, it's just dollars & sense!!

If I have insurance PRIOR, to developing cancer, that insurance policy should cover any, and all medical treatments required to help me without an increase in premiums. That's the definition of insurance. Insurance is a legal promise of compensation for FUTURE-LOSS! Once that future loss has been incurred, no insurance company should be able to force you to pay higher premiums for that specific ailment or any future ailment that is directly attributable to the initial ailment.
That's what health care insurance reform can accomplish. That should be the only involvement this government should be allowed to have in our private lives.

I'd love to live in your world where everybody has plenty and no one has to work to survive, and absolutely everyone helps everyone else. The problem is, we don't, we live in the real-world were resources do have limits, people must work, and not all people are willing to be responsible for themselves, and will never help anybody else. I'm not being hypocritical, I'm trying to be a realist. We have an obligation to take care of those unable to care for themselves. We do not have an obligation to care for those capable of caring for themselves. That makes no sense, economically or morally.

Yes, I'm OK with contributing to the health care needs of legal American children whose parents can't afford insurance. I'm also in favor of contributing to Seniors, and people with mental and physical problems, who have no one taking care of them.
I'm not in favor of anyone capable of working and taking responsibility for their own health care needs, sucking off the taxpayer-pool. I also have a huge problem with allowing the children of illegal aliens taking the limited educational resources from our children.
The problem with your examples is, most of the examples actually pay for themselves, and more, and do not apply to health care. Basic health care should be available to every legal American citizen, and in fact, is available. If you want to contribute to a charity that pays for health care for the indigent, that's should be your privilege, just don't try forcing me to pay for that small segment of society that will do nothing to help themselves.

The "death panel", was in the initial draft of the health care bill but, as I understand it, it has been removed. I'm not so sure, an end of life panel-like discussion of your options is a bad thing? As long as the final binding decision remains with you.

The Patriot Act, was rushed through Congress with the use of strong-arm, and scare tactics. Bush got the bill passed with little discussion. The same tactics Obama is using to get his health care bill passed. Only this time, enough people stood up and said, wait a minute, let's take a good look at this problem before open the door on boondoggle we may never be able to close. There may be better ways of fixing this problem than handing over 1/6 of our private-economy to the government. A government that has demonstrated over and over again they cant' efficiently run anything.

Your right, the insurance co. will not, on their own, correct their dismal practices. This is where the government steps in and passes regulations stopping that trash.
Insurance co. were actually on board with Obama until they found out Obama was going to allow people to opt-out of buying insurance by paying a ridiculously small fine, and allow them to buy insurance only when they need it?

Medicare and Medicaid, two socialist health care programs that are nearing bankruptcy. Medicaid is destroying state budgets, and that's just covering children! Medicare is rife with corruption the estimates of theft is between $50 and $150 Billion annually! Doctors are opting out of the Medicare program because they are being paid below the national standard.
Medicare and Medicaid are NOT working!!

The answer is the free-market. Remove the regulations stopping inter-state competition, tort reform, and promote transparency in costs, and billing. The governments job should be that of a referee, not a player.

Shouldn't this be a bi-partisan effort to address the health care issues that need attention? Destroying an entire health care system seems foolish when 85% of the population that is insured is saying fix only what is broken and leave the rest alone.
This isn't about health care, it about this government trying to impose even more power over our private lives. Instead of growing this intrusive government we should be demanding they do what only the Constitution allows them to do.
You'd have to be completely naive to think this government cares about your health care! This is about forcing us into a socialistic system of government.

How my reasoning breaks down? Seemed to be a straight forward question. If your using the system more shouldn't you be paying more? Or did you think that was everybody else's responsibility?
Let's expand on your reasoning. The people not using the system but, are paying into it should be charged more to cover those that are using it more? Is that your reasoning? The "spread the wealth", BS Obimbicile is pushing?
Children are covered under Medicaid, the elderly are covered under Medicare. Once you start breaking down your reasoning, it makes no sense, does it? Those that use the system more should be paying more, it's just a matter of common sense.

This article, in part, points out the fact that Lobbyists have far too much power in Washington. Hardly an article goes by that we don't see the involvement of Lobbyists having a direct effect on the outcome of a bill.
No matter what side of the political isle your on, watching an issue your deeply involved with being manipulated by special interest Lobbyists is inherently wrong! The amount of corruption being bought by Lobbyists cannot be tolerated! There is absolutely no reason any politician should be receiving any monetary rewards, in any form, from Lobbyists.

We have a bogus election right here in Minnesota that needs to be investigated. ACORN's involvement in voter registration in Minnesota may have led to Al Franken being elected to the Senate.
If only 1% of ACORN registrations was fraudulent, that would have been enough to get Franken elected. In other states that have proved voter fraud by ACORN, as much as 50% of registrations proved false.
I'm not hearing any outrage by this administration! Vote integrity is at the core of legal citizen representation and any outside influence that directly attacks the process should be priority #1 by any administration. The office of the presidency is the Executive branch of the government, directly responsible for enforcement of the law. Why isn't Obimbicile demanding an investigation into ACORN's involvement in the Minnesota Senate election?!!
