Disappointing results pretty much across the board for Labour.

But in other news, Liberal Democrats made good gains in our area. When I first got involved this time 4 years ago, we had zero elected reps from my town (Haslemere, Surrey). Two years ago, we took effective control of both town and borough councils (the bottom and middle tier of local govt), including my own election to the town council. Today, we elected our county councillor, exactly doubling our vote, from 25% to 50%. (the rest split between Tory and Labour). Elsewhere in the borough, we gained two other seats, and Tories, who not so long ago held all eight county seats in the borough, are now down to just two.
Also, adding up votes across all the borough seats, if this result were repeated in a general election, we would take the parliamentary seat off the Conservative Jeremy Hunt - a former Secretary of Health, later Foreign Secretary.

A sad day nationally - but locally. I now go to bed very happy.,

For my part, we have county elections here in Surrey. (Counties are the highest tier of local government in England). Surrey is currently under overwhelming control by the Conservative Party, but local Liberal Democrats are hoping to make some good gains to dent that. As a LibDem town councillor myself (i.e. lowest tier of local government, I've been out every day for weeks, delivering leaflets and knocking on doors to take my local area for the "progressive alliance" that currently runs the town and the district (2nd tier of local government),

He's not "wasting" political capital, he's building it. Polls show his proposals have broad public support, including from many Republicans. By pushing ahead and demonstrating that the congressional GOP are resisting, he's making easier for Republican voters to go along with him. In four years, some of them will remember who was on their side.

Previous results from this pollster have been less favourable to Biden. Also, more good news details in tables. Undecideds are leaning to Dem / 3rd party, and Dem leading the Texas lege generic ballot.
Less good, Cormyn still ahead of Hegar for Senate.

About 10 years ago, I began a blog "Queering the Church" about the need for full LGBT inclusion in church and in society - and reporting on the activities of one group I participated in, Londons Soho "Gay Masses". For that, I was widely attacked and described by some as in league with Satan, or even as the anti-Christ,
10 years on, LGBT inclusion has advanced to an extent that it is now less urgent compared to other issues, and I've largely moved my energies to other things - but this move by the pope feels like a major vindication

Joe now has serious money behind him, and ready to get out actively campaigning. Polls show that the more voters see of him, the more they like him, Trump, not so. He's going to have a really tough time just keeping still 7-8 pts behind Biden, let alone make up the deficit.

OT (but indirectly relevant, in terms of offshore "interference": I'm doing my best.
Not American, not in USA so I can't vote, not allowed to donate. Instead, I signed up as a texting volunteer for the blue team. Completed training today, followed by introductory procedures - but unable to start texting, because -

"Amazing magnificent text-team! You sent 630,000 texts in about :two: hours!!! We are now all out of texts for the day! "

This seems to have been the case two days running. I'll have to wait for tomorrow to get started.
