Um hate to say it, but the Chicago Police never said it wasn't a hate crime. They said they still had to investigate the intent before charging them with a felony hate crime and in the end CPD recommended the perpetrators be charged with a hate crime.

My issue isn't Banshee, its the possible foot in that Mono gives MS to attack Linux. Since Mono is a .net derivative and uses MS technology there are possible future patent issues from that so I as an individual choose not to use mono apps. There are plenty of mono free apps there that I can choose to use and do. such as gnote over tomboy.

I use evolution and though the interface hasn't changed much its backends and plugins have improved tremendously. Its my preferred email client because it has more options than Thunderbird or any of the so called light weight clients. I can do a lot more with Evolution than the others. Rember its not just a email client but a full feature integrated PIM package and I would rather use one program for that purpose than a slew of separate programs that don't work together.

Banshee is not what I call a good choice because its a mono based app. The features are great but I have no love for mono and its the first thing I remove from a Ubuntu install.

I use alltray to achieve that. Though I would like to see evolution have its own ability to go to the notification tray. That will be a mute point with 10.10 though.

Been using Evolution for a while and before that Kmail back before Kubuntu went with KDE 4. I like Evoloution for many reasons and I am old school enough to want an email client instead on an web interface. Main reason - Offline access to already downloaded emails. Extremely few of my emails (slim to none) require a web connection for reading. However, only MAPI handles email syncing well, POP isn't designed for that and of the 3 webmail services you mentioned only Gmail supports it as an option for Free Email users. Microsoft and Yahoo require a upgraded account. Officially access to Yahoo mail outside of the web interface requires a paid service subscription, I use FreePops to download my Yahoo mail (mainly spam anyway) though I can't send mail through Yahoo unless I use the (blech) web interface.

Web Access has advantages but they're few in my book over a good client that allows me local storage. The latest version in Ubuntu 10.04 is a vast improvement to the one in 9.10 as well (many folder errors previously, none occurring now, (not yet anyway)

As one who is among the 35 and older and having been in the IT field now for well over 25 years the reason I stopped using facebook is not only because of the privacy and security issues, which are brought nearly everyday in the industry news, but because the statements made by the CEO and how they change my settings. Take into account making Facebook even remotely safe as a social site is a daunting challenge even for those of us who understand complex computer operations.

FB isn't worth the effort or time if it compromises my online presence.
