Just another classic example of Americans imposing their uneducated views on the rest of the world.

Having lived in America and Australia, I can understand why this ad looks racist to an ignorant American, and also understand why it is not in fact racist in the least.

In America, one of the racist stereotypes is that African-Americans love fried chicken. If one were to make a comment about fried chicken to a black person in America, it would be unambiguously racist.

However, in Australia, this stereotype is completely unheard of. Not even the most backwards, racist person in Australia would equate fried chicken with blacks, and thus the creators of the ad could not have anticipated the response.

However, if this ad was set at, say, a basketball game in America, then without a doubt, it would be racist.

A third thing I would contest is that the ad can't be racist because the people portrayed in the video aren't African-American, but West Indian, and in my experience, their cultures are very different, and the racist stereotypes, such as the fried chicken one, are not universal.

And fourthly, the Windies cricket team and their fans are fantastic, and no Australian would say anything bad about them. I think the guy in the video said it best - these people "made me laugh because how ridiculous" they are.

You're a better man than I. I lose patience very quickly with customer service like that, having learned about the importance of customer service. I agree though that the 'moisture' thing is a bit rubbish.

Here's a thought: how would your Voodoo Envy handle a bit of moisture? How would you handle a warranty/repair if it had encountered some moisture?

That is pretty bad customer service, and pretty bad design, if it can't even take a bit of snow.

If it were me, I probably would have lied and said it'd never been exposed to moisture, and that the light indicating that it had was faulty. Then again, I don't buy Apple stuff.

I stopped using MS Office a few years ago, and started using OpenOffice.org. It's grown a lot over the period which I've used it, and now it's pretty much better then MS Office in every way. It's got all the features, and it's NOT by Microsoft! I use the Chrome+Google Docs too, and it's really nice.

It's not Apple's fault the glass door wasn't strong enough. The fact that the door completely shattered most likely means it was made from Tempered Glass, which is designed to shatter into bits that don't cause injury. It's used in automobiles and other places where people could get hurt.

While I'm sure it was pretty shocking to have a door explode in front of them, it didn't cause them any harm. I think it would be fair if Apple wrote them a short email/letter thanking them for shopping at their store and apologizing for the unfortunate incident. It would also be reasonable to give them a Gift Card or voucher or something, but not compulsory. Also, expecting Steve or the VP to reply is silly. Maybe the Store or Regional Manager would get involved.

Also, you have to realize that Apple may not have apologized immediately because that might classify as an admission of guilt if they were to sue, or something. Otherwise you'd have people standing in front of Apple glass doors waiting to be struck down.
