the mayor had quite an array of candidates to choose from: Borden, a deputy chief who had not passed the exam, a deputy chief who was part of the EMT scandal, etc. Yup, a rogue's gallery of candidates...the next chief can at least be held accountable or more accountable than a civil service hack

the naysayers are wrong ,the parking deck will be an asset to the downtown commuters, workers, shoppers. Do you recall what the area looked like 8-9 years ago? Try to remember the old Hamel leather, Cordovan building, Hayes building, etc...you may not agree with the type of housing but only a fool would disagree with the fact that a rundown area looks pretty nice!

The mayor as CEO will use the money for the city's budgetary needs. He is the day to day manager.

This is what happens when you have civil service (union) protection for department head jobs.

Ricky has ignored any attempt to bring sanity to the HFD. As he has said, he will retire in a couple of years. Unfortunately if there are lawsuits we the taxpayers will pay.

The Mayor ultimately has no control.

Haverhill is growing and it needs a parking plan. The naysayers who think it will kill business are wrong. Maybe a few people will not pay but if you are going out to dinner, paying a few bucks to park is acceptable. More politics...grown-up citys have parking plans...too bad the council does not address real issues...

It is time to stop looking up to the so-called public servants (police and fire) and start treating them for whom they are, career hacks trying to stay employed until their pension is granted...I know I am making a rash generalization but on it goes.
