Streaming 720p or 1080p content takes a lot of bandwidth, so Comcast is going to be my ISP for awhile (2 years tops). Boxee Box will be out in stores in a week. I'm going to try my luck with their hardware, and skip Apple TV.

Re: Cutting the Cable TV Umbilical Cord

Yep, sports is a tough one. I've debated this for the past year. The fact that I have two non digital TV's makes it even harder. I typically only watch the Vikings, and not much ESPN any more.

Re: OK Go again put more energy in creating music videos than music

Can you say Fischerspooner?

Re: http://oscar1.com:8000/

Boguskian Mind Meld

Re: #NpTalk Summary and Transcript for July 7, 2010 Topic: Keyword Research

There's really no quantitative measurement to determine metadata weighting in search engines. While ease of use in the application is important, and could be better, the deals will keep the early adopters as your advocates. Think of it in terms of World of Warcraft. The studio gave you a game that you can only get to a level 60 character, then you get bored when you hit the end game. So they then have the opportunity to sell you an expansion pack(s) later on in the product live cycle. You have a lot of early adopters that are getting bored. Something has to give.

Re: Digital Ghosts – Dead with Zero Footprint

Thank you!

Re: Newspaper of the Future Questions

Brian,

Thanks for your insight. I believe we are a long way from newspapers not relying on ad revenue, so I completely agree with you on that point.

I can see a initial backlash to the practice of news orgs hunting down their content, which may usher a change fair use policy.

Interesting take on torrents. Maybe it will become a household name and technology.

Point 4 is what interests me the most today. Will the platform dictate the packaging of content? I believe in the short-term, the answer will be yes.

Re: Measuring Online Conversation – Social Media ROI

Thanks Don,

I appreciate the insight and feedback. We do take sentiment into consideration. The brands I have worked with, to date, have seen moderate increased in overall positive sentiment (i.e. 5% increase in the span of 3 months). It was also interesting to see a competitor of this brand drop 15% in positive sentiment, and watched sales decline sharply, a month later. Have you seen any examples of using this as a regular forecasting tool?

Re: Measuring Online Conversation – Social Media ROI

I realize I didn't include cost saving measures into this post, as this is sometimes much more difficult to quantify, but I do believe it should in some way be included.

Re: TWITTER LOCAL: Twitter to Attach Locations to Your Tweets

Half the people saying they don't want people to know their location are probably checking in on Foursquare daily. I noticed it centered around more of the Ne-Yo performance. I wonder if this is some sort of copyright issue? I didn't notice the signs, but take your word for it. I also wonder if spreading the word through pictures and video couldn't help through different perspectives. I'm sure Ne-Yo gets more ticket sales, and music downloads through more WOM.

Re: Recording Device Ban

Hi Billy,

I like your perspective. It's the counter argument I hear most often. Documenting the experience takes away from you actually experiencing. I think it's a valid opinion, but if you take into account the shareable qualities of this media, you can make a case that you might be losing an opportunity to share your experience with friends that were not at the event.

Re: What bothers you most about the Health Care Debate?

@_taylor_ wanted me to add this reference:

http://voices.washingtonpos...
