Oh, shame I can't crochet, as I love the mittens! Is there an easy-knit version? The patterns I have for mittens make me cry when I get to the thumbs :( and I am just an experienced beginner, if you kn what i mean?
Last year I made scarves for the whole lot of people for Xmas and they went down a treat. I used good quality yarn (no acrilic, all bought from people not big shops), and I used nice patterns or added details to make them more special. This year I have not had the time unfortunately :( but I will be making my Xmas gifts again next year!

my first project was a scarf.... and it took me forever to finish! but i still wear it with pride, and because of the colour choice and pattern, no one can see where i messed up, which is a plus!

every time i see pics of your yarn i get into a jittery frenzy of the knitinits so i can get through my stash so the hubby will allow me to get new yarn :) LOVE your colours and textures. the day my stash is through, you will know because your etsy shop will be attacked!!!!
and sorry about the house :( we were broken into once in Brazil, and it took us a good few years to stop feeling vulnerable there, so i totally sympathise.

Well... I tried to learn from my mum several times but it just ended up in screaming and sulking. Then a few years ago I stalked this American lady who lives in Ireland now and who started the stitch&bitch meetings here and got her to teach me. i still only know very basic things and can't do anything fancy, but i am happy with how things are coming out!
