Or I'd use the defrost setting on the microwave and then reheat.

Just be sure to stir the puree and test the temperature before feeding it to anyone.

Re: Taste As You Go: How To: Make Homemade Baby Food {Zucchini Purée}

Cooling down the purees in the fridge before putting the containers in the freezer and generally the better approach.

Putting warm food in the freezer will alter the temperature in the freezer, potentially putting other food already in there within the danger zone temperature-wise. Also, warmer food will take longer to freeze.

With this in mind, I'd advise against thawing frozen food on the counter at room temperature. It's best to try and plan ahead and allow the purees to thaw all the way through in the refrigerator... especially if you don't reheat the vegetables before eating them.

I'm not sure if you're freezer full 1-cup portions of the purees, but perhaps consider freezing smaller portions if you're worried about not finishing the whole container within a couple of days.

When I made my kids homemade baby food, I froze portions in ice cube trays. That likely won't work for your needs, so I highly recommend looking into a product like these silicone trays* from Souper Cubes. I use them to freeze homemade stock, etc. and I love them!

I hope this helps, Jodi!

* affiliate link

Re: Shrimp Fried Rice with Fiery Lime Sauce | Taste As You Go

Every time I make this rice, I'm instantly transported back to that restaurant.
