Crossing into Haiti on foot from the Dominican Republic where local Haitians ran off with my equipment before I could realize they were trying to help. Literally fighting insane crowds in Vietnam and being taken to a police station without our fixers or translators. Traveling more than 48 hours one way by plane, bus, small van, wooden boat, DIY motorcycle/flatbed vehicle, and by foot to location in Bangladesh. In Uganda, we were crammed into a car for a seven hour drive from location back to the airport that included a 50 pound bag of bananas and a large rat that ran down my arm five hours into the trip. Almost not making it through customs in Bolivia because the client didn't have the correct visa for me to get in with my camera gear. Landing at a small desert airport for a shoot in Bolivia where our plane was the only one there. At the other end of the spectrum, I've ridden in supercars (Ferraris & Bentleys) and helicopters while working in Malaysia and Indonesia. Not much of a crazy location, but I also did a story with the US Airforce Thunderbirds where I got to fly (and puke) in an F-16 fighter jet.

Re: The New Salomon Ligthelm | Musicbed

So great to hear someone talk about "...learning how to be humble and serve agencies and clients" and "...learning how to serve other people’s ideas." I think it's easy to get caught up in the idea that a client hires you because you're good at what you do vs. hiring you because they have a need.

Re: Killing Them Softly | CineGleaner

Thank you for the post. As a DP and cam op in Oklahoma City, there's a reason I continue to hire the same 1st AC I've worked with over the past couple years. More often than not, they know more about my gear than I do, gets to set earlier and works harder than the rest of the crew, and takes care of problems before they get to me. Being indispensable on set gets you hired again.

Re: tannerherriott.com - blog

Yep. The bag is supposed to be regulation size for a carry-on even for smaller planes. I fly out of Oklahoma City and more often than not the airlines ask that I check my camera bag at the gate. I can usually get by and carry it on saying that it's camera equipment, but every now and then I have to argue to get it on the smaller planes. Recently I did the usual argue thing and it turned out ThinkTank bag was too big for the overhead and I broke the door trying to force it in. Point being - just because the manufacturer says its gear is within airline regulation doesn't always mean it'll fit in the smaller planes.

Re: Was that Morgan Freeman? #wcagls

absolutely great stuff.

Re: The Wealthy West

I love the wooden floor. They do a great job at covering the basics, but I'd really be interested in learning more about their pre-production processes. I believe they've hosted educational events in the past. I haven't seen any coming up, but it the price is right I'd be there.

Music-wise, I'm not sure where they got the song for this video. But I do know they are pretty involved with a music licensing project called With Etiquette - https://withetiquette.com/ . I've never used it before, but it's worth looking into.

Re: http://blog.tannerherriott.com/post/3484755981

So far, so good.
