Roger we had a Raleigh Tweetup in December 07 with 5 attendees and we live stream the tweetup on ustream.tv. We're planning a triangle tweetup at Calvert holdings on March 6th

Nice post, my feed reading has declined as I started using twitter more. What I like about twitter is that not only can I get the news from blog feeds on twitter but I can have conversations with the people who wrote the blog.

@shegeeks I agree with you, I use twitter along with my RSS reader (google reader) but it has not replaced it. But I must say that I read tweets more now than I do blog post.

Good review of plurk, the interface is polished but the add a friend features could be better. Overall I'm a plurk fan and looking to growing my Karma on the new micro-blogging social network.

I'm going head first into Plurk, I like the interface, the features, and the also soon to be announced features, groups aka cliques. If plurk listens to it's early adopters (first adopter community) as you have stated, the service can be very useful down the road.

A few NC "plurkers" have already created a few cliques to use as a group messaging system. We could do the same thing on pownce, I guess but we seem to be attracted to plurk for some reason.

Good point Loic, that's another reason I rush when I hear about a new social network or site. Also I agree, we need every site to support openid and fast.

I think Scoble had the same problem. Also I would say that it's a sign that when a new socialsoftware site launches and the community starts to use it, that some of the main tech bloggers or CEOs should listen and join instead of watching from the outside and not participating.

At this current time I'm using plurk & twitter, Plurk more as a general conversation, vents & fun conversations. I'm using twitter for more tech talk & social media conversations.

Both have space in the social-sphere.

Great question and blog post. I use social media to connect others who may be able to help someone else. Yes it takes a lot of time and that question growing in the business market of social media... Where is the ROI? .

For life it's about learning, connecting and sharing. I was asked on a similar topics of how non-profits could use social media. Part of my response was to find someone a pastor could trust to be a community manager for the ministry.

Each person has their own path to take in life, some a soup kitchen, some a ministry some using social meida and some both. Using social media to mashup online and offline life and training others how to use these tools for social change is the ROI for me.

I would say most are not SEO ready unless it states it. As with most wordpress blogs your content is king for SEO.

If you choose a new premium theme I would still install a few SEO plugins and start writing.

@Markus good point, I would have thought it would have been free also, but I guess with the economy even Lil Wayne is trying to make some extra cash off of the iPhone.

Also with talk of a $99.00 4gb iPhone at Wal-mart soon, I'm sure his app will be downloaded "amilli " times. :)

I left out one more thing. I wonder if twitter is going to ask Dell for 5 or 10% of that $1 million in revenue they just made using twitter.

Great post Kat, and like Kipp (@Kbodnar32) said it takes a while to find your podcasting voice.

Something he and I are continuing to work on as we record http://talksocialnews.com but so far it has been a great experience.

For us the hardest part I think is finding the time and scheduling guest.

What benchmarks do you set for yourself as a podcaster? One straight month of recording shows, we'll see where we are after six months and after SXSW.

Surprises along the way? How smart our guest are.

As podcasting continues to grow, I hope Kipp & I are around to benefit from people wanting to find new shows and information on social media.

I have more than 10 twitter profiles. I used them for different audiences. I have some for conferences, by topic & location. Sometimes I do follow the same people but it depends on the need of the profile.

But none of the accounts I use for just spamming twitter. Example @waynesutton @triangletweetup @barcamprdu etc
