I like Omar and usually agree with her. What she says, needs to be heard. I'm tired of having people attacked for expressing their beliefs. In the market place of ideas, all of us ought to be able to express what we are thinking with the exception being advocating violence against others.

Like Omar, I do not support Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. What Israel is doing to those people is a crime against humanity and I also understand that Israel does lobby our government for support as Omar has pointed out and that Benjamin Netanyahu even addressed Congress. He had no business being there.

It is not anti-Semitic to point these things out and it is not anti-Semitic to point out that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) not only lobbies our government but also contributes to elected officials who support its goals, That is why AIPAC exists. That is its purpose.

What it does is legal but unfortunately, much of what it does is supporting Israel and its actions against the Palestinians and once again, I believe what Israel is doing is a crime against humanity. Those taking money from AIPAC ought to be pointed out, just as those taking money from the NRA should be. Then, let the voters decide if they agree with the actions of their elected officials.

Thoughts and prayers do not stop bullets. That is a fact. This is very much like those who handle snakes to prove their belief in religion, some of those handlers get bitten and die. It is a numbers game, if enough people handle venomous snakes, some are going to get bit.

With bullets, it is a little different. If enough people get shot, a lot of them are going to die. No religion is going to stop that. AOC is right about this.

California has 714 people on death row and has not executed anyone since 2006. The truth of the matter is, California ended the death penalty 13 years ago and just did not know it. I agree with the governors decision and I also believe there are probably some innocent people on that death row. Once executed, there isn't any way to correct that mistake.

There is a limit to what can be written here but here are some points. 1. you do not describe nations as $h t hole nations and then expect them to negotiate with you. 2. His insulting Tweet Storms actually undermine respect for the presidency. 3. His misuse of power turned critics into martyrs. Revoking former CIA director John Brennan’s security clearance and CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s White House press pass turned partisan critics who were embarrassing themselves into victims — and gave them an even greater platform from which to attack him. 4, His behavior drove away suburban voters in the 2018 elections and will probably drive them away in 2020. 5.His graceless handling of John McCain's funeral demonstrated no respect for a war hero and former Senator. 6. His handling of Jamal Khashoggi’s murder harmed America’s moral standing. Saudi Arabia murdered him on the orders of Mohammed Sultan and Trump did not care. 7. His news conference with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki was an embarrassment to this nation. 8. His policy to separate migrant children from their families at the southern border was an avoidable tragedy. 9, His planned withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan is a gift to the Taliban and al-Qaeda and ISIS is still a threat. His pullout of all U.S. troops in Syria will take America’s boot off of the terrorists’ necks.10. Tariff wars are no easy to win. He is really putting it to farmers. Those tariffs have made American steel and aluminum the most expensive in the world and that increases the costs of our industrial production, driving production overseas. Trump, as I said, is a disaster.

Take a good look at the size of those experimental sections. Each one cost between $300,000 and $500,000 and think, just how little length each one would block. Now, think of walling in the southern border at that rate. What a stupid idea.

AOC is one voice in the House of 435 elected Representatives. She cannot accomplish anything without the help of other representatives but what she is doing is changing the conversation.

For too long, it has been the same old same old coming out of our political leaders. Someone has to mix it up and get them to dealing with what really matters.

AOC is doing that. If she needs contributions to continue what she is going, I'm going to send her a check. I hope she keeps on, keeping on.

I would have no problem if there was an elective Comparative Religions class offered where all major religions were covered. It would provide an opportunity for students to actually know what members of other religions actually believe.'

I do not support only offering a course in the Christian Bible. If parents want that, set such a course up in one of their churches or attend a private Christian school.

I live in Northeast Georgia and a year or two ago, the Historical Society in Cleveland GA but a plaque on the ground honoring Confederate veterans. These veterans are ancestors of these people. I have no problem with them placing that plaque on the Historical Society grounds, even though that is the old courthouse in the middle of town.

I do have problems with monuments that honor the Confederacy or promote the Lost Cause myth about the reasons for the war. The bottom line was slavery.

In the town I grew up in, as winter approached, the police would scoop up a few homeless people and keep them in the local jail until spring. That was back in the late 1940s and early 50s. He may be trying to find room and board for the winter.

Marijuana should never have been made illegal to begin with. To think that people have gone to prison for growing or selling it is awful.

With all the problems in the world why should government deal with this and use resources and money that could be used to solve real problems. It is time for Congress to take this up.

Florida is dealing with Red Tide and other environmental issues and it is the Republican Party that tries to reduce environmental regulations that are designed to reduce Red Tides. The state depends upon tourist for much of its economy. Do not tell me Republicans are pro business. As for health care, medical bills are one of the major causes of bankruptcy in Florida. Republicans are against the expansion of Medicare. Tell me Republicans care our our financial health. I have come to believe that the Republican Party has become an enemy of the people.

Republicans have one strategy for economic growth. Cut taxes and the benefits will improve the economy and economic growth will provide the government with more revenue in spite of the lower tax rates. Even if this strategy has worked from time to time, at some point, it cannot work. Governments run on taxes and if they keep cutting taxes, the government is going to borrow what it needs.

We are sending our lack of fiscal management to out grand children. In truth, we are screwing with their future.

What bothers me most about the Republican Congress is the fact that the elected Republicans are not going to reign in President Trump. He is ruining our relationship with our allies and sucking up with our enemies. His trade war is going to negatively impact our nation and adversely impact the rest of the world. He is a disaster and the Republicans in Congress are not going to do anything about it. We need a Blue wave in November and I hope it is a Blue Tidal Wave.

I am so thankful that cameras have produced evidence that law enforcement unfairly deals with minorities. I believe, if it were not for videos of others situations this harassment would not have come to light. It is now believable that cops stick it to minorities. Perhaps in time, we will all be treated the same. I hope so.
