I then ran 16 heavy wieght jute twines vertical between two posts and then creating an overhead structure with more jute. This makes it easy to cut down come September. I am scared to see how much I produce on the 16 vines this year. I cut them hard to the ground this past week, to make sure I produce hardy vines for the summer months. Once again good luck boys. Maybe we do a hops exchange this fall.

Re: And I thought Georgia was bad

Sorry bout the Sout' boys, I may side with Travis here and say that here in the north we know that a little extra hooch in the beer don't hurt you or make you handle snakes any differently. We have never had such an issue in the People's Socialist Democratic republic of Oregon, aka Beervana. In fact Micro-Distilling is really starting to take off now. Hats off to the boys at House spirits. I fancy the Belgiums or Germans who serve at a cool temp but not ice cold. A perfect Cool temp allows one to taste all the flavors without the smell of the achohol over powering as it does when beer is served warm.

Re: Laissez-Faire Barleywine? Next year they will start taking off and the following year they will be out of control wanting to take over the world. What started as two vines of mine have turned into 8 that I mound and harvest. Results may vary in the south as I am growing the Pacific Northwest. Also add lady bugs, they love living in the hops and will take care of any aphid problem or other nusance.
