I guess my favourite headset will be up on my next post ;P Great topic Mike, accessories are important but we hardly see many reviews or blogposts about them. I've tried the Nokia BH-501 and I prefer in-ear plugs mostly because I can turn the volume down and preserve battery :)

@icebox last time I checked (before posting this article) some of the basic features are still for free, perhaps that changed over night?
Ovi is a great catalogue but double check before you buy that is what I recommend, in case free applications appear as payable on Ovi store.

@boocha that sounds strange - check your settings inside the app, don't let Shozu fetch updates or other services that might require it to connect online. If that doesn't work, reinstall and pay attention to the installation steps, perhaps you checked a "fetch updates" or something like that during the process.

Update: I'd say the latest version of Skyfire browser offers more appealing facebook experience using the site iphone.facebook.com than the built in browser and opera mini.

So if I'd rank the browsers visiting the facebook:
1) Opera mini (fastest access, essential information, simple mobile version, low datacosts, less appealing experience)
2) Skyfire version 1.10 (fast access, more appealing facebook experience, similar datacosts as the built in)
3) Built on (takes a little more time to access page, mobile version works good, iphone.facebook.com not as appealing as Skyfire's. The built in S60 browser uses almost the same data amount as Skyfire.

So for me winner in keeping low datacosts, fast facebook access, simple interface (mobile version) then go for Opera Mini
Best, or most "appealing" facebook experience on the E71 when using a browser to access FB I'd gp for Skyfire logging in via iphone.facebook.com

thx for the tip guys, I guess old habits die hard, I thought "past tence" that Opera Mini's mobile facebook version rocks in terms of essential facebook info, speed and little amount of data used. I gave the iphone.facebook site a try and it definitely renders better. Would you guys recommend the mobile version of facebook on Opera mini or the Iphone version for someone like me with a limited dataplan?

Great review blaxx85!! It's practically same phonepower as G1, many applications on the phone feels sluggish. Same thing with browser -- good thing it has flash but another spot where the software fails victim to the phone's underpowered hardware -- the web experience on the Hero was typically slow and frustrating. Alot of HTC Sense widgets look cosmeticely pretty but miss essential user friendly elements like the music player, messaging app, twitter widget. And don't think for a minute they are usable along with two or three other apps simoultanesly. I've never witnessed an S60 device with alot of apps open where the music lags, on my HTC Hero, it's enough I open the browser with flash content. I don't know if it's Android that's hogging to much or the HTC build that's underpowered.

@name I don't have a data plan either. Sportstracker links to a server only when you upload - I upload when I'm close to my home Wifi.

@expalmandse I'll try answering your questions accordingly,
Question 1: How can my non-nokia friends browse my uploaded workouts (apart from emailing them a particular workout link - cumbersome. So far I do upload sharing with everybody)
Answer: Have a look at my blog www.swerunner.com and you'll see a very useful way of embedding the sportstracker profile into my blog with real time updates. In your profile page you can share whatever workout you'd like by providing its homepage link - the Sportstracker service offers a wide range of sharing options to blogger, facebook, twitter etc.

Question 2. How to display the route I'm doing on a map within SportsTracker (not just a wandering line on a white background)
Answer: In your phones sportstracker application you have the option to display the map view locations as well (it'll consume some data)

Question 3. how to use and old route as a guide of where to go (i.e. I've been offroading on bicycle following friends and trying to emulate the route afterwards)
Answer: you can save and "re-use" any routes you like, I do that alot to time laps. It's very easy to spot on the map view if you're to far off your original route.

Question: 4. Cannot properly open the website on the E71
Answer: That's true it needs proper flash, the built in S60 browser can't display it properly. Solution is by simply using Opera Mini you can view some of your profile, groups and workouts.

5.Question: Have issues uploading via wifi
Answer: Two solutions, I suggest you try a) if that fails try b)

a) Refreshing the connection on your phones sportstracker
Sometimes when you swith between Wifi to GSM or 3G the Sportstracker software on the phone doesn't comprehend the transition between the connection you're currently on. Inside the S60 sportstracker application, try to refresh or reset your connection by choosing the Connections Options in General Settings and set it to "None" or no connection then switch back to the connection you're currently on.

b) Clearing the media cache on your phones sportstracker
Perhaps all the information "leftovers" from the media files (music,pics, videos) needs to cleaned of, like the analogy an oldfashioned web browser wiping the temporary files clean. Here's how to clean the cache memory. Open Sportstracker on your phone:
go to Settings > General Settings > Options > Clear media cache

@jonww74 That's what I love about the S60 platform, there isn't really one solution fits all, lots of alternatives out there with plus and minuses. By sharing your userhabits we can improve upon each others feedback!
@Dylan Valid point, I guess they had to add "more value" on the software side on new devices, a pity for us older E-series users.

@formidible: I double checked on energy profile (latest version of Nokia Messaging and with latest E71 firmware) I find them consume very little power - almost as much as the built in "old" one. You can try that for yourself, see if your device hogs up more battery. You're correct, for now it's a free service. It might become subscription based meaning the automatic pull is payable (I find sticking to manual push better cuz it hogs up very little battery compared to always on)

Gmail app is ineed good, Gmail in Opera Mini is nearly as good. Thank you for pointing that out, valid alternatives!

@Rob: It works a bit different, In settings you can set days when you'd like to remove or clear your inbox - writing 3 days means it'll get rid of everything before the last 3 days, from phone memory only, not server! (I use a weekly 7 days setting)

Usually when you delete, it removes email from phone and server. I suggest deleting unwanted emails on the phone (that you don't need on your Gmail server) and limit your days so you won't clog up to much memory on the phone! Hope that helps!
