Tricky, aren't I?

Also, in the movie, he did not find a gun OR any ammo. He found a vibrator and he and The Boy made stupid jokes about it for the rest of their lives. Or the rest of one of their lives, anyway. Is that a spoiler?

Re: http://etceterawhatever.tumblr.com/post/8099438796

As always, you give good insight. The problem is, however, it's the sentiment that frustrates me. Either way! If he meant that the poor would carry the rich: annoyed! If he meant that the rich would carry the poor: annoyed! I was reading a picturebook/biography about her and she (reportedly) got up every morning and did at least an hour of calisthenics! When I was in my early 20s and obsessing over her in the age-appropriate way that early 20s girls do, this brought me comfort ... and a little shame. She had to work for it, to look that great. At least a little bit.

Re: HAIKUESDAY!

Glass shards on hardwood
So ... your meds make it soft wood?
The worst bootycall

Re: http://jenniferanne.tumblr.com/post/4380041997

That's entirely fair and I know what you're talking about. Or, at least, I think I do. There's only an ethnographic nod *because* they are black, though, yes? This could be perverted if it was just a bunch of anglos (admittedly true, on Tumblr), watching the quirky black folks and commenting about how quaint and zany they are (implied "for black people"). I don't feel like that's what's relayed though, or that that was the result. There's no denying that these are some quirky people who live out there, though. Maybe not ALL of the residents, but the people interviewed for this short, certainly. After living in Brooklyn (nowhere near) for two years, where I was definitely the "quirky minority" in my neighborhood, I feel fairly safe in saying that my former neighbors would have looked at the residents of "The Hole" as complete novelties. Anyway, interesting discussion, brought on by an interesting short. Thanks!

Re: http://jenniferanne.tumblr.com/post/4380041997

It took me a while to get to this, but I'm glad I did. Very interesting. I don't see any reasons why the producers shouldn't exoticize this, though: it's totally exotic! This is Brooklyn, and completely unlike Brooklyn.

Re: http://barthel.tumblr.com/post/4066486470

I've done #13. I thank you again for the ticket hookup. It was a great show. I didn't watch it with Meghan, but I could see her from where I stood. You can see her in this video, too! She has recognizable hair that catches the light just so. I caught up with her after the show, and hugged her a bunch. And then I bought a poster. :-) Good night! Thanks again.

Re: Yes, life is so hard when you have a budget of $1,700 a month for rent and refuse to live anywhere outside the West Village...

Moreover, *10* TEN! TEN! minutes (WITH THE WALK FROM MY HOUSE) to Christopher Street. Seriously. So, I walk out my door and I'm in Jersey City. But then, ten minutes later, I'm on Christopher Street. I pay $900 for my own place, with a backyard! Your "ask" to me talked about how you would probably leave NY for very different pastures, like Jersey or California ... but having been a lifelong resident of CA, and a current resident of NJ, all I can say is: I live in New York. I do. It's a fuckin' fact.

Re: Yes, life is so hard when you have a budget of $1,700 a month for rent and refuse to live anywhere outside the West Village...

I agree with your comments so very much. HOWEVER. I can offer you a closer/cheaper alternative, even to Brooklyn. You just have to have an open mind.

But still, the argument at hand is solved by the simple declaration (that you've heard before), which is: You sacrifice a lot, at notable expense, to live in New York -- space, time, money -- all of those things are at a premium. But when you walk out of your door, the fact remains ... you live in New York City. There is no other place like this.

(But Jersey City is worth looking into. 20 minutes, Caitlin!)

Re: http://unsustainable.tumblr.com/post/2154091797

I don't wanna get a real bad case of the cancer, like Royal.

Re: http://unsustainable.tumblr.com/post/2154091797

Well, there's no denying that's a stupid reason, but ultimately, every decision to start smoking is stupid. I'm going to have to quit again, for good this time, for reals, in the near future. It's gross and I hate it, but every time I quit (once for a year), I wind up picking it up again. I recently bought a pack ($8 in NJ) with DIMES. ALL DIMES. That's so many dimes. But I did it. So lame.

What does it mean that you "smoked the parch"? What is that? I assumed you meant you "tried the patch" but then I was thinking, no, no, it must be some lingo that I don't know.

I think I might do this: https://www.nysmokefree.com... this winter, so I can be mostly quit in springtime.

God, even talking about quitting makes me want to smoke.

Re: http://unsustainable.tumblr.com/post/1526497080

Well, that would be me.

Re: http://unsustainable.tumblr.com/post/1199328236

Haha, awww, Tarts.
