POC refers to non-whites. It doesn't exclusively mean blacks/African-Americans just because American history once referred to blacks as colored people.

I mean, it's not Cali, def not hot as shit. But seeing how summer is approaching, I'll say, at least for the northeast, NY is a HOT BITCH in summer time. You could get away with thin shirts, short sleeved shirts, light jackets, and all that.

Of all the photos of tattooed people on my tumblr, only one is mine, my most recent. You could probably find it by browsing my tattoo tag. My first two tattoos are regrettable, I'm planning to get a cover up on one, and my 'interest' in the type of art I want now is different. My last tattoo is photography related, and that differs a lot from the tattoo style I'm focused on now. I'm really into getting Buddhist/Hindu related scripts now, and on my back I'd LOVE to get a tara bodhisattva on it...something like this: http://tigeryogiji.files.wo...

But I just can't imagine all the time and expense that would go into it! The only Buddhist/Hindu thing I have now is a Tibetan om, and my next is going to be 'kairava' in Sanskrit on the opposite side of the om.

You may as well get it shaded in Cali. I think shading is what really jacks up the price in NY, then again, I guess that depends which shop you go to.

"THE BOY" (whose name is Natã) is definitely no thing of the past :) Because my photography class is all up in this blogs business I try hard to limit my photo posts to things only related to my photography work. Scientists in anthropology disregard any concept of race; to us it's nothing but a social construct, after all, race is different in every country. Here it may be black, white, asian, Hispanic. In Malaysia race would be Bumiputera, Indian, and Chinese. As far as an anthropologist is concerned the variety, besides the obvious differences we can see among 'races,' is the skeletal structure of the cranium, and this is a factual. Otherwise, genetically, there's about 1-2% difference.

1. Hehe, it's not even a dress! It's a super long tight shirt with the "tablecloth" parts sewn into it. I've always wanted a dress with a bottom like that and could never find one!

2. MeiMei lives in a House Boat on Suzhou River! Hehe. She made house boat life seem cool.

3. Not the least bit as far as I know. I'm black and Malay (a slight Indian Malay/bumiputera Malay mix). But it's probably likely some Chinese Malay is thrown in the mix in a small amount; that's not so uncommon. My interest in Asian culture all started with China, ever since I saw Zhang Yimou's Raise the Red Lantern in the early 90s. (I love the guy, but it's a shame he's only known over here for his big films like House of Flying Daggers. His old movies are AMAZING).

4. Never heard of that... but I know you mean Zhang Ke Jia.

YOU KNOW WHAT CHINESE MOVIE IS GREAT?! 'In the heat of the sun' by Jiang Wen. I've only seen it once, in a Chinese film/society course. I would KILL to get a copy of that movie. It's amazing. It actually surpasses Suzhou He. According to the teacher who showed this, the only place I'll probably find a copy is in China. To China I go!!!!

In the four years I've had this piercing, before the summer of 2008, I've only ever gotten one compliment that I can remember. Everyone else has been EW/OW/WHY!? I'm glad people are beginning to appreciate it :D "Adoring" it just may be the best thing that's been said.

The END of it. Well, it is anchored into my axis bone.

No, it's one bar, you see, the ends bent at the end, a bit like a staple before the staple's been flattened. Bending it this way is extremely important, and these are reasons why a surface piercing like this is so high risk:

1. The piercer, as I said, is an idiot. S/he uses a curved bar and puts that into your body. The curve causes too much tension, and no matter what your body will reject this/the piercing gets infected. But I can't put all the blame on the piercer, anyone who wants a surface piercing that allows someone to put that kind of bar in them is an idiot. You should be well researched before getting something like this, and annoy the shit out of the piercer with questions to see how much they know before they do it. That's what I did :)

2. Piercer uses the right bar, called a staple bar (which should begin as a straight bar before it becomes a staple). The straight bar should be perfectly measured for an individual's body, but I guess some piercers are lazy and bend them without measuring. If it's not suited for your body, it rejects!

The measuring process is key, and it has to be measured perfectly, and those measurements are drawn onto your body with a marker. A long and super thick needle is inserted where one measuring line starts and ends (it hurts like a BIOOOTCH), and the bar, which should have been bent after measuring, is inserted. Because the bar's bent at two 90 degree angles, there's alot of agonizing twisting and turning to get the bar in. http://bmezine.com/pierce/1...

So yeah :D I think it's funny when people think it's two giant needles that are possibly damaging my spine and nerve endings.

As for facial piercings, I used to want snakebites so bad, but my lips are insanely full that I wouldn't like it. A piercing like that, they usually start off by putting rings in your lip before you can switch to a stud. If you could start with a stud then I'd totally get it, but maybe not anymore because, as you said, the judging thing and also as a work thing.

I've been told I should get a nose piercing, but the thing about that, well, gravity has its way with most piercings, your nose being one of them, and on occasion the hole stretches a bit and it's beyond obvious.

The one piercing I'd love to get is a smiley, if you know what that is :D Hehe....Now that's bold and discrete, but a super judgmental one, unfortunately.

A ring light = every broke photographer's unaffordable dream, haha. I wish I had a job, there's so much friggen gear I want/need. I never light backdrops in the studio, I could care less about that normally, but I do kind of like that "aura" it can put around the subject.
