Honestly, I'm surprised that anybody could like "Seven Psychopaths". In spite of a few great actors in it (it's so over the top a "guys" film), its like being stuck at dinner w/ a friend who's wildly funny but a few minutes later just ridiculous and stupid. I can't see this as appealing to anybody much except young, simple-minded guys. The occasional jokes etc. that are very good just are too few and far between, not worth the time. I called my hubby in to watch early on and then I was embarrassed that I did. He hated it as much as I did even though we laughed at the same things.

JOKES that ridicule men's abuse of power (in relationships,etc) is FEMINIST... You may dislike it, as you obviously do. You don't have to like these jokes but it's fairly early historically for women to even be making these kind of jokes. And, though the gentleman doth protest too much, he clearly CARES. Speaking as a retired therapist and someone who likes a good joke (not just at girls and women), I would suggest You appear to belong to that group of "weak people who lack emotional stability & emotional intelligence" as you suggest "feminazis" are who might enjoy some of these kind of jokes. " no one takes the issue of feminism seriously anymore"??? really? YOU may not take it seriously, but feminism is alive and well. We've just gone through the most backward 4 yearsin history under the most backward fake president ever, so the waters of popular thought have become rather polluted. It's like a sinking ship where blacks and women (who think) are the first pushed off the boat. I've seen more simple-minded venom against strong women, aka feminists in these years than I've ever seen in my life of 80 years. I feel sorry for Brandy, don't know how old she is, but suspect she's pretty young. However, even if she is older, she is likely to be a conservative, closed-minded woman threatened by jokes where women have power, not the guys, which has been the usual state of affairs. Interesting to me how upset old-fashioned women who resent any other woman making waves, feel. They are threatened by it, don't like women who misbehave, aren't "lady-like",etc. These are the same kind of gals who have giggled at stupid jokes told by a man. It's time ladies...don't be so afraid of women being a bit bad-ass. It's fun. Or, just go back to your knitting or church.

I agree 100 percent. It is a thoroughly frustrating film compared to the much richer, powerful series on Hulu now. I think Ebert was being kind giving it a 2. It's unfortunate that it did not do much justice to Atwood's powerful story but the Hulu series does give us a much improved version. I'd call the film a "puff piece" and as a long-time feminist proud to be that, an embarrassment for all film fans who appreciate the power film can have in portraying complex human/social problems.
