It might just be a compatibility issue between a MB Pro and the 1075. MB Pro and HT2050 work great. And other HDMI sources and the 1075 worked fine.

Thanks for confirming!

Re: The Best $1,000 Projector

We replaced the the HT1075 with the HT2050 and it works perfectly too. I've never been to Asheville, but I've heard about it from multiple people. There's a big difference between a "Large town" (which asheville sounds more like) and a small city.

I think your theory makes a lot of sense. A nice town where the demographic skews older and more established means people are probably less social and there are fewer activities. Austin is an amazing city for culture and nightlife.

What minor city are you in now?

Re: Introducing Goals for iDoneThis

Awesome new approach to "To-dos". I think a big of part of productivity is to feel like you're in control. Typical to-do applications make you feel really good the day you organize your life, and then all of those things are just extra weight on your shoulders.

I love the idea of picking what's important at the beginning of every day.

Re: Ikea standing desk for $489

It looks like Ikea pulled all the sit-stand desks in the past day or two. One thing to check out is something like Harry's - harrys.com. I didn't mention them, but I'm a big fan of their company (even though I don't personally use the products).

I usually use amazon to benchmark prices, but ebay in bulk for a mach 3 or whatever is not the current generation would work well.

Re: Verizon made an enemy tonight

Unfortunately you can't do this with the verizon router. I'm pretty sure they wont allow you set up a vpn client on the router. You could plug another router in to the verizon one. Or replace it totally. Pretty sweet.

Re: Verizon made an enemy tonight

Sure! The super fast advertised speeds are kind of a waste if you're not going to get them on the things that actually can use them :/

Re: Verizon made an enemy tonight

Ah. I missed that bit. I don't have triple play so completely replaced the router:

This info tells you how to use an ethernet cable rather than coax for the router.
http://www.dslreports.com/f...

Re: Verizon made an enemy tonight

Hey Chris, I don't have TV service through them. I end up paying more for my internet connection rather than getting the triple play junk. My understanding was that even though it's cheaper for me, they use their subscriber numbers as a bargaining chip in content negotiations. I have no interest in being a bargaining chip and just wanted fast internet anyway.

Re: Verizon made an enemy tonight

Give it a shot with Youtube. The two places we could "do it for them" are integrating our tracking code, and creating a few campaigns (with copywriting).

Writing and committing code to someone else's codebase seems like it could create a situation where people are scared to make changes. I'm on the fence about copywriting.

Thinking about it as "guided set up" is great. Now to get people beyond wanting a demo to the point that they're setting things up :).

Re: What's your conversion rate from trial to paid

Thanks Samuel.

You're right that it's great for pre-market fit companies too. Our first 20 or so customers had the full concierge experience -- mostly because the product was barely usable back then. Over time I scaled back the amount of interaction we were offering to new signups to barely none which is where we are today. We have a lot of work to do on the automated experience, and I hope the learning from this experiment will make that a lot better!

Re: What's your conversion rate from trial to paid

"help them stay committed to the product since they have invested both time and money"

I've been thinking about how financial commitments make people value something more. Many companies give out information for free. "Come get a free ebook on X"! Those free giveaways could have information that would print your business money, but people won't necessarily try and implement it.

On the other hand, if someone put down $100 for the same ebook, then there's a much higher likelihood that a.) They'll value the advice, and b.) They'll take it!

I think there's something to charging for onboarding as a way to weed out unserious companies and to get people who do it more committed to the product long term.

Thanks for sharing what you're doing!

Re: When is it ok to send an email without an unsubscribe link?

Jen, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
