Yikes! That's a great story. I never understood how people who said their house was haunted and they were 'just used to it' could live that way, but now? I totally do. I'm still hoping there's some rational explanation for what's going on -- I just can't figure out what it is or why it only started in the last year or so.

The good thing is there's a moving day and after that happens, it will be over! I was very selective with what I brought home, but it was hard saying goodbye to so many memories! Still feeling a little overwhelmed about it this week.

I love that you keep your Nana's handkerchief on your nightstand. My grandmother made me a wedding quilt and I keep it on a stand right beside my bed.

Nope. I'm an obsessively social distancing mask wearer who hasn't seen any of my friends in person since March. I have an immunocompromised kid and I stay at home as much as possible and avoid people who aren't masked and constantly follow all the news and the research in order to keep my family safe. If you look at my blog posts or my Facebook posts since COVID hit, they all bear this out.

I also unquestioningly believed that I needed to avoid dining in restaurants in Nashville because they were dangerous, and that's why they were so heavily restricted. Now that I'm seeing that the case numbers in bars and restaurants have actually remained very low since March, I'm annoyed. I personally would have still chosen to sit outside at a restaurant, but I also would have dined out a lot sooner had these numbers been part of the narrative. And if I were a restaurant owner who's now gone out of business or a service industry worker who's out of work because of the shutdown and restrictions on restaurants and bars, I'd be furious right now. I know they all assumed the numbers in their industry were MUCH higher as well.

Leigh, I'm so sorry you and your husband are going through this. That is incredibly stressful and hurtful and I know all too well that hurt intentionally inflicted by people within your own church can be one of the worst kinds of hurt there is. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. ❤️

I'm 44, but all of this rings so true. Life is hitting me hard all of the sudden, on all fronts, and most of it is stuff that hits all of us at around this time. I'm also dealing with elderly parents and watching family members, friends, and acquaintances grapple with disease. I think a lifetime of bad decision making in relationships and finances also starts to hit home around 45-50, and I'm watching that play out among some people we're close to. It's all scary stuff and leads to many 3am mild panic attacks! Thank you for writing about it. I agree, it does all certainly make you appreciate what you have far more!

Wow. This is really interesting. You're at a crossroads and while I don't know the details, I think what you're talking about could apply to lot of different situations. I think our 40s are definitely the time when we have to take major stock of our lives so far and determine how we want the rest of our lives to go, and we have to decide now what we're going to do, because the possibilities are no longer endless. It's scary but exciting at the same time. :) Good luck! I look forward to reading more about how this all turns out.

Great advice! Atlantis is gorgeous -- I'm telling people now to go to Aquaventure 2 days instead of one just so that they have plenty of time to lounge around and enjoy the scenery in addition to the slides -- That to me is half of its appeal. :)

I am also so grateful for cellphones now that I'm a mom! I can remember so many times that I got stranded downtown or at a party when I was in college and without a phone, I had to be very creative in finding a safe ride home. Not fun!
