I’m out.")

I'd also like to report that there is another MacOS audio bug on T2 laptops that appears even if you're using the built-in audio. The glitch sounds like a buffer underflow and can appear even if you're simply viewing video in Safari. The workaround is to make sure you're running at 48 or 96k in AudioMIDI Setup.

Re: Roger Moore: Best James Bond moments

CGI is a pretty specific acronym. It stands for Computer Generated Imagery. It doesn't mean 'standing in front of a projected image' It doesn't mean any sort of effects shot. It doesn't mean any sort of compositing, analog or digital. There is no CGI in the Spy Who Loved Me.

Re: http://c74starpeople.tumblr.com/post/23298462623

The surrealism of the underlying metaphor.

Re: The Stretta Procedure: Practical Max 2

More or less.

Re: Why Neil Young Hates MP3 — And What You Can Do About It

The statement "there is no such thing as a lossless compression format" is false.

A zip archive is a lossless format. It has to be. You can zip and unzip something, diff it and it will be zero differences. This is lossless. No data was lost. JPEG is a lossy format. Zip a tiff, unzip it and it is identical to the original.

Apple Lossless and FLAC are basically zipped audio files. When you make a zip archive, you expect a good compression ratio, like 10:1 depending on the data. Well, audio doesn't compress very well, which is why lossy formats like MP3 became popular. You could get 10:1 compression, at the expense of lossy compression. The best you can hope for with a zip is 2:1, and, guess what, that's Lossless. So, you can store a CD in 300MB instead of 600MB. That isn't great compression, but it IS lossless.

Again, don't take my word for it. Anyone can do this test with a simple audio editor. Take an audio file. Compress it with apple lossless or flac. Decompress it back to wav. Invert the phase of one of the files. Sum it with the original. You'll see total cancelation. No data loss. I apologize if this isn't clear.

Re: Why Neil Young Hates MP3 — And What You Can Do About It

There is no difference between Apple Lossless, FLAC and WAV uncompressed. FLAC and Apple Lossless are lossless compression formats. You can transcode either format, invert the phase, sum it with the original WAV file and see everything cancel out.

Those 'purists' who prefer WAV over Apple Lossless or FLAC are misinformed.

Re: The Stretta Procedure: morphing control voltage snapshots

It wouldn't work as a maxforlive device due to the number of outputs it requires. I like the more compact size, but it isn't nearly as comfortable to hold.

99% of what you do with an ereader is hold it and turn pages. I don't care for the buttons. The new kindle is more comfortable to hold at 90-degree rotation, but then the page buttons are even more awkward. It wouldn't have taken much thought to design the unit so the buttons are comfortably accessible regardless of orientation.

ereaders don't need touch screens. you want the most minimal of gestures to turn pages; something that doesn't involve putting your hands over where you're reading.

I wouldn't mind a slide out bezel that makes the unit more comfortable to hold, yet maintains the compact size.

Re: The Stretta Procedure: moving

feed://plusfeed.appspot.com...

Re: The Stretta Procedure: Lego Nyan Cat

The link works for me.

Re: The Stretta Procedure: vcvi maxforlive

Monosynths may be tricky to calibrate due to their integrated nature. The optimizations rely heavily on the ledcol message which I strongly suspect won't pass efficiently (or at all) thru a monome emulation layer. Tea drinkers in the US are there by choice, instead of growing up in a culture itself seeped in tea, so, as group, we sort of have a chip on our shoulders. Which is particularly amusing because the act of drinking tea is a contemplative, inwardly focused one. Speaking of snobbiness, I would be remiss as a true tea snob to fail to point out that Rooibos, while it is an infused beverage, doesn't actually have any tea in it. Tea comes exclusively from the Camellia sinensis plant.
Anyway, that is how it starts, you find a tea that you're enthralled with and you start exploring. My fascination started with semi-blacks, primarily oolongs, then drifted over to greens and then exclusively Japanese greens. My advice is to forget books and experience tea. Go back to that shop in Kalamazoo and start trying different things until you find something you really like, then start sourcing your own. When you place an order, order one of what you like and one of something else to try. Sometimes it can take a while to 'understand' how to brew a particular tea, so give it some time. Many times I have not really liked something at first, but by the end of the bag, I'm full of sadness. Often tea retailers (if they like repeat business), will provide small samples of other products gratis.

Re: The Stretta Procedure: Awareness & Persistence

Temperature depends on the tea. gyokuros are very delicate and respond well to 140 degrees, but they're on the bottom end of the scale. If you have a fine gyokuro that isn't brewing right at 140, then my instinct would be too little tea leaf. Normal senchas require a bit more coaxing anywhere from 145 up to 160. Anything much above that will right fark up a sencha. When I used a hot pot (again with two settings like you describe), I'd use the hotter setting, stage the water in the cups to warm them up and cool off the water a bit. When the water feels right, then pour into the pot to brew. Years ago I used to use a thermometer, but eventually cultivated an instinct for how hot the water should be by touch.

muffwiggler did a myers brings survey recently and INTPs (2% of the population) accounted for 20% of the respondents with other closely related personality types clustering around. I think the major reason INTPs are not that prevalent is an introverted type immediately cuts down 75% of the population while modular synth users are dominated by introverts.

Re: The Stretta Procedure: Awareness & Persistence

o-cha.com specializes in international clientele and ships direct from japan

Re: The Stretta Procedure: plane - m | vi | cv

Plane directly generates pitch CV.
