Betty was recently divorced so really wanted to look over-the-top incredible at this reunion in hopes of meeting another single classmate. Betty decided to go to a plastic surgeon to investigate what could be done in such a short window of time as the reunion was fast approaching.

The Doctor told her it was too late to get a face lift as by reunion time she would still have bruising and swelling......BUT, there IS this experimental proceedure we could try, but you will have to sign a release that we are not responsible for any ill results. Betty replies, "I'll sign anything if you think it will work!" She signs the paperwork and the Doctor lifts her hair and inserts a tiny screw at her hair line. He gives her a sheet of paper with instructions on when to turn the screw and how much...

Betty goes home with her tiny screw driver and her instructions... the first day, she follows the instructions perfectly turning 1/4 turn in the morning, at noon, and before bed. The second day, she was so pleased with the results of the first day that she cheated just a little and gave the screw an additional twist each time. Day 3 - the same. On day 4, Betty was horrified when she looked in the mirror and went rushing to her Doctor to complain about the results! The bags under her eyes were horrible and were worse than they had EVER been!!!

The Doctor could not contain his laughter. He snickered as he reported that those were not bags under her eyes! Those were her breasts and if she did not stop freely turning that screw, she was going to have a BEARD!

Re: The Book of Yarn

1) "All Over But the Shoutin' " by Rick Bragg...As a southern girl that grew up on a farm..I could TASTE this book. Rick Bragg is a Pulitzer Prize winning writer and this book is about how he "climbed up the backbone" of his mom to make his way. When you finish this book, you'll want to know more about that mom and where she came from, where she found her strength...so then read "Ava's Man"
2) and all time favorite book E-VER: "Traveling Mercies - Some thoughts on Faith" by Anne Lamott. You will cry, you will laugh and you might read it again. I have read it 3 times and will probably read it again. She's blogging now too. (There's just not enough time in a day to read it all) The woman has grit....and she's a white woman with dreads...gotta love her. I must add though, that some of my friends that read this book said they just wanted out or her miserable life... I think they were looking for a picket fence kinda thing, light and fluffy, kinda shallow predictable girls that could not see past the windshield of this book. It's a great read.
