The rest is then pretty easy. Where the above function helps is filling in the right-hand edge of the box.

Re: A Reminder about MELPA

💖

Re: A Reminder about MELPA

Thanks Jon, also for the tip. :-)

I saw the post and wasn't too irked: it was a somewhat reasonable question, and I could have done more by now to mitigate the effects of my limited time on MELPA's review cycle. For instance, I've long promised to write a guide for maintainers, but I persist in doing the work (fun) instead of writing up how to do the work (not fun).

Recently I submitted a recipe update for Homebrew - a project that must be enormously more popular than MELPA - and it took many weeks to get accepted, through a couple of light-touch maintainers. So now I don't feel so bad about my service levels!

I think the issue in both cases is that there fundamentally aren't many people available with the time, experience and motivation to do this free work.

Re: Our Use of the Haskell and Elm Programming Languages

Thanks for asking. Much of the interesting stuff is behind the scenes, and I will write more about it if I get chance, but I'm hoping to put together a demo video from a user's perspective soon, because we don't have a good video yet - I'll post a link here once that's done!

Re: Our Use of the Haskell and Elm Programming Languages

Yeah, if you actively want to use lots of javascript, and are willing to risk your app's reliability on that, then Elm's likely not the right choice. Happy to hear ReasonML is working out for you!

Re: Our Use of the Haskell and Elm Programming Languages

I read Real World Haskell and a bunch of non-book resources. Nowadays I would recommend everyone start with the Haskell Book (haskellbook.com). One thing to be aware of is that you'll still feel like a beginner for a long time, but you can very quickly become net-productive in Haskell, so don't let a lack of understanding of concepts stop you from writing code: in any language, writing code is the best way to make progress (for me, at least). Best of luck!

Re: Steve Purcell

I'm so touched that you took the time to write this. No, sorry, I don't really have any documentation about my custom keybindings: you'd have to read the config itself to find this out, for the most part.

However, I have enabled a package called "guide-key" in my config, so many common prefix keys like "C-x" will display a menu showing which keys/commands are available next.

Re: Integrate iTerm2 in your Emacs setup

Couple of tips: `get-file-dir-or-home` can much more easily be defined as `(or default-directory "~")`. And you might need some use of the `shell-quote-argument` function or similar to make your code work with directories that contain spaces or quote marks in their names.

Re: Fill and unfill paragraphs with a single key

I think the thing is that `last-command` will end up having the marker property on it even if `last-command` is `execute-extended-command` and not the toggle command.

Re: Fill and unfill paragraphs with a single key

Note that Xah's version (see the commentary in the above) has a trick
for making this work with `M-x` too, involving setting a marker property
on `this-command` that can be checked the next time. This works even if
`this-command` isn't the actual command being run.

Re: Fill and unfill paragraphs with a single key

I rewrote my unfill package to use this code rather than the old code I'd borrowed from Xah's site. https://github.com/purcell/...

Re: Disable Mouse only inside Emacs · Endless Parentheses

Oh, wow, I just wrote and published a new package called disable-mouse without having seen this post.
